I wasn't using this in an RV. I have an exterior basement door that is about 1" thick. It didn't have a latching door knob, it only had a lock. I wanted something that would latch when it closed. This did the trick. My door was a little thinner than it needed to be, so I created some shims. I created a paper template by measuring the part that goes through the door and drawing that size on a piece of paper. I then used a sawz all and cut the hole. There was a lot of measuring and using a chisel to get it to work, but I am happy with the result. The latch seems very high quality and the lock and deadbolt are keyed the same and you get 4 identical keys.

The door lock on my 2022 Jayco Trailer was very difficult to close because the lock mechanism was way too stiff. I got this lock mechanism to replace it. The installation was easy. There are 4 screws that hold the clamp the mechanism into the hole in the door. The package has 2 sets of screws for this. One a little longer than the other set for thicker doors. Mine used the shorter screws. There are also very short screws that attach the mechanism to the side of the door where the deadbolt comes in and out. I found these screws to be way too short and only got a few threads engagement. At my first opportunity I will replace them with longer screws. The instructions that came with the mechanism were easy to follow and the whole lock switch took less that 15 minutes. All you need is a phillips screwdriver. My trailer door now closes much easier.

Replaces standard RV door with a great quality metal. Locking feature works as expected and holds nice and tightly. Simple to install and works well. Nice weight adds to the quality.

This is a great quality lock and I really wanted to give it 5 stars, but I’ve gotta take one off because the lower latch screw hole didn’t have any threads on the front of it. I ended up using a screw from another door handle that was a little longer and it did find threads and I was able to tighten it down. Looking at the hole it just looks like they didn’t tap the threads all the way, it’s perfectly smooth like it was drilled but not tapped, so I decided to tap it, worked fine and I was able to use the smaller screw, but still pretty lame.So with that out of the way this is a really nice door lock, the whole handle is heavy you can tell it the second you grab it. All metal handles inside and out. I’m quite happy with it and I’d really like to give it 5 stars but the unthreaded hole makes it a 4 star.Easy to install, fits perfectly. As you can see from the photo the bezel is a little smaller than the original but that’s not a bad thing, gives plenty of clearance. I’d still recommend this door handle even with the screw issues I think it was likely just one of those things that happens.

The door lock arrived just two days after ordering and was in perfect condition. Prior to installing I did a good look of the hardware, and it seems fairly well built and cosmetically attractive. Having lost keys, our side door had always had to be barred and padlocked. Now it’s a little easier to deter thieves who aren’t too determined. I like that this lock has a key for the deadbolt as well. Our old lock did not have this, and I think it’s a nice safety feature in case someone does deadbolt it from inside and then becomes incapacitated. Installation was relatively easy (less than an hour and a half, including some minor cutting and trimming). For the price, I think it will be hard to find a better RV door lock than this. I do certainly recommend it, and will update my review if we experience any issues with workmanship or materials.
