I gave it 4 stars because of 2 things. First, they made a design change and didn't include any documentation. Capacitors c12 & c13 and quartz crystal x1 are missing from the kit. There are still spots on the board for them, and the schematic shows them. So I was looking for contact information to see if they would send me those parts, when I happened upon a forum post that said the oscillator circuit is now built into the chip. Must be true because it works fine without them. Maybe a note in the box would help?Second is soldering those bolts to the front panel is jangy. There has to be a better way to attach it, but it works.Kit was fun to build, and challenging. Definitely earns the level 5 difficulty rating. The display board put my eyes, and skills to the test. I came away with a working product, which will look cool connected to my stereo.

the display soldering is tricky and needs attention.

pretty easy build, couple of surface mount caps. Attaching the faceplate is the dodgiest bit. Make sure you rough up the bolt heads before you try to solder them.

I love these things!! The refresh rate is a little slow on the spectrum analyzer parts.. however!!!, on the power mode, which just show's a simple bar graph, and reported power output its quite quick!! (which I use it for)As far as it's power accuracy, i found both units are about a .15w difference from my oscilloscope playing solid test tones at 4 ohms. Not bad at all!YES!!! soldering and building this can be a pain, and if your not up on your electronic techie skills, the build, and fit and form i can see being VERY tough.. Everything needs to line up with both boards, and front panel to look, and fit right! The first unit I didn't get the front display lined up perfect for the front face plate!! Thankfully I have a rework station!

This kit is well designed I have redesigned the PCB to fit inside a handheld enclosure. The kit is quite easy to build there are no SMD components, performance wise it works as advertised.

I've been assembling kits for years. I couldn't get it to work. To be fair though I did not contact them about fixing it. The circuit board trace lifted when I was trying to unsolder part of it.
