Golly Gee Wally, what's a guy gotta do to find items actually worth what they cost? Yes, the images are what happened to the lid after the very first use smelting copper. I'll try to come back to follow-up if i get a fix. I do believe in allowing for the benefit of the doubt, but this type of thing gets old when there's an obvious disregard for product quality and customer satisfaction... so one assumes product safety is not a priority either and this is probably something you should have some confidence in to perform it's intended use safely.I highly recommend you avoid this product and go with a product that can actually stand up to the typical heat range used when serving it's sole purpose. Ridiculously overpriced and disappointing performance and possibly unsafe.

No issues when used as a melting furnace. When using this in forge mode (on it's side), especially if only using 1 burner, the heat coming up through the burner tubes causes the sealant used on the threads of the valve to fail and start leaking propane. Also the large opening makes it difficult to use efficiently as a forge. I've been making due with it for several projects after resealing the threads a few times, but it's fiddly. The lack of any choke mechanism also makes it difficult to light in forge mode. I made some simple sheet metal sleeves to temporarily close the air intakes when lighting, but it's still a pain.

The only reason i didnt give it a 5 star is if you have any wind where you are there isnt an adjustable choke for where the gas mixxes with the air which would be nice for a more consistent burn

The propane connection will start leacking after 10 uses. The Crucible will break after 8 uses. I had to replace both after a considerable cost. I started smelling rotten eggs at the tenth use I was afraid it was going to catch fire or explode.
