Have had other Vornado heaters that were great and was expecting same from this unit. You're better off with a 30$ hair dryer. Plus, the seller, MareVista, did not offer any restitution. Overall, an unusually poor experience from Amazon. Avoid both. Instead, order the VMHI600 from another seller.

Background:I purchased a Vornado 460 Fan (https://a.co/d/guttTg5) in 2020. Last year it had a hard fall from our counter and broke one of the 3 blades and threw it off-balance. When I called customer service, the representative sent replacement blades for free since it was under warranty, despite of being our fault. This made me research and purchase another Vornado product.Our 220 sq. ft. bedroom is on the far end of the air handler's duct work (poor design of the house). So it gets almost 6 to 8 degrees cooler than the thermostat shows, which is usually set at 69-70 F. Wanted a space heater that had decent power while not being too big. I decided to buy the Vornado based on the service experience.Pros:1. Good power at high setting. It takes about 5 minutes for the temperature to come up to 70 F from 64 F. Once at that temperature it steadily auto-starts, runs and shuts down to maintain the temperature. Those cycles can vary from a few seconds to a minute or so.2. Good safety measure for auto shut-off, if it notices movement or imbalance. It is very sensitive, which is a good feature, especially to prevent fire hazard. Granted most of the modern space heaters have the same feature.3. Not a power-hog. It runs pretty cheap - cheaper than running air-handler at higher temperature or running gas fire place.4. Durable - It runs sometimes 5 to 6 days non-stop before we shut it down for the weekend. Didn't feel like it was overheating or losing the heating effectiveness.5. Seems to have good quality materials and decent heft.Cons or Improvements:1. It can become noisy. Initially it was a little discomforting, but we got used to it. Also, auto-start may create some discomfort. Again, we got used to it.2. The color - not a big fan of the ceramic white color. It doesn't go well with the bedroom theme. But the color has definitely not faded.3. Price - slightly pricey for about $100. It would be a great buy, if it were priced at around $80.Bottomline:Vornado impressed us with the quality and customer service. Currently we have had it for about 13 months and it ran steadily for 6 of those 13. I will give this a 4.6 out of 5.0. Kind of surprised by lower overall ratings.

Worked fairly well to heat a chilly bathroom for one year. Then just quit. I have heaters 20 years old that are still working.

I was on the fence about purchasing this space heater because I kept reading about mediocre heat output and the heater being noisy. Glad I made the jump and purchased this because the Vornado Velocity 5R is OUTSTANDING. I'd like to address a few things I've read in negative reviews...1. Noise. On low heat, the noise is negligible; it's no louder than any other space heater I've owned. On high heat, the fan does crank up, and obviously puts out more noise. But even on high, it's about 42 decibels (which I confirmed with Vornado support) which isn't -that- loud. I read reviews, "Oh, I can't even watch TV with this thing on it's so loud!!!!" That's so hyperbolic. It's not anywhere near as loud as some of the reviews make it out to be. And again, on low heat, it's relatively quiet.2. Heat output. I've seen a few reviews complain about the heat output or even state that this thing just pushes out lukewarm air. I completely disagree -- this heater pushes out a TON of heat. I think some of these reviews had it on fan-only mode and didn't realize it or maybe their unit was defective. Either way, pay no mind to the reviews that are critical of this heater's heat output. I've owned a dozen or so space heaters from different brands during my lifetime and I'm very impressed with the unit's heating capabilities.3. Get the Velocity 3R. The 3R has the same heating specs and wattage as the Velocity 5R, and I feel the extra features included in the 5R (like the cord storage compartment) don't justify the increased price. The auto climate feature on the 5R isn't really that great; I don't even use it. If money isn't an issue for you, then sure, get the 5R. But for most people, the 3R is going to be more than fine.Overall, a great product with some nice features and safety features. I wish that the 5R had a bit more to offer over the 3R, but I'm still comfortable giving it five stars.**NOTE ON THE AUTO CLIMATE** This heater dynamically adjusts the temperature of the heat based on what the thermostat is set to. Just crank it all the way up to a maximum of 90 and this will ensure that the heater is always producing the hottest air possible. I think some people don't do this and this is why that they claim that the heater only produces "lukewarm air"
