I’ve never made any leather projects before, so this kit was very helpful to make my own bag. It comes with everything listed: leather pieces, backpack straps with metal buckles, a special waxy thread, and very sharp but useful needles (like all needlework projects, it came with a few pokes as well). It also came with a single sheet of instructions that were admittedly hard to follow but after looking over it a few times as well as looking at the product pictures, the backpack looked exactly like shown. Putting it together was straightforward; you only need to know the simple running stitch to put it together. Just use a running stitch through the aligned holes along the two pieces and then go back the same way to make it secure. I’m not sure if this will be easy for beginners, but it is a start to learning a new hobby. Very satisfied and will look into more kits!

Don't usually leave reviews but it's not leather and says everywhere it's leather but nowhere what it actually is and just made to look like leather.I figured with the price it would be a cheaper composite leather for a smaller bag, but nope. The material is a vinyl coated cloth fabric that has 2 pieces glued together. (Glue smell is strong btw)I wouldn't have a problem with this as a starter kit because it looks like a good intro but I can't burnish the edges of this to make it look better or anything, it just is what it is.So far instructions are clear but if you think it's leather and or plan to touch this up a little, just get an Etsy PDF and grab bag of leather from Michaels.
