These socks are warm without the bulk. And so soft. I have had these for a few months now, and washed them many times. They actually seem to get softer and there is no shrinkage even though I dry them in the dryer. I plan to buy more.

I wear compression stockings and my feet were always cold and sweaty with other socks. With these socks my feet stay dry and warm. Worth the cost.

Soft aand warm but do not wear as well as cotton or wool.

I have cold feet, these socks are the best for keeping them warm!

If they're so nice and sooooffffft, why only 3 stars? Because it's a much thinner sock than I expected. I got these to try 'em out before picking up another 1/2 dozen or so. Nope, didn't work for me. I know that SOME people like thin socks. Obviously, they are very weird people, but whatever. I recommend these socks to those folks. I will continue to wear these, but I won't be getting anymore.

I’ve worn merino socks for years, both as hiking and everyday socks, and recently I’ve gotten a lot of ads pushing me to try alpaca socks, so finally I bought this pair. The first thing I noticed was the socks weren’t particularly soft, despite only being less than 50% alpaca, with the rest being synthetics that should impart softness and durability to a sock. I then noticed they don’t seem particularly well made. They have an unnecessary white pattern on the top of the foot, and inside the sock the extra white thread hangs in long loose loops that catch on toenails when you put the socks on, and are bound to catch on other things over time and end up messing up the socks quite quickly. I read the blurb on the packaging the socks come in, which basically said the socks should be washed as rarely as possible to extend the socks’ life. This is disgusting, socks are like - no, socks ARE underwear, and just like underwear need to be washed after every wear. You sweat into your socks, which sit in the closed environment of your shoes, and odor causing bacteria grow more quickly in your socks than on any other clothing you wear. Anyone who hikes, or who has been in the army, knows how important it is to change your socks frequently, replacing them with CLEAN dry socks. It’s so important to foot health, to avoiding blisters, things like athletes foot and toenail fungus. And also, if you wear dirty socks multiple times between washes, dirt particles and salt crystals from your sweat will build up in the socks and abrade the fibers. A sock manufacturer telling people not to wash their socks between wears is irresponsible. They’re just setting you up for the blame when their socks wear out fast, when the problem isn’t washing the socks, the problem is the socks are just a poorly made, not durable product. And I found that out myself after the first washing, each of the socks already had a long snag of a dark blue thread at the top of the sock. This wasn’t even alpaca fiber, it was obviously synthetic thread. Once these socks wear out, which will be very soon, I’ll stick with merino and never allow my head to be turned by faddish products like alpaca again

Attractive, comfortable, launder well, and don't itch like wool. Would buy again.

My feet are sweaty and it's hard for me to find a sock I can wear all day and remain comfy. When I get to the office I take my shoes off and switch to socks and sandals look, otherwise I'd have to put on new socks 3x or endure.I normally wear icebreaker merino. $$$. Sometimes I wear generic cotton socks because until the point they become saturated they are more comfy than the merino wool. IOW the cotton is comfy until they're not, whereas the merino wool comfort level changes more gradually. Over the course of a year I haven't been able to decide which is better. Definitely besides the wet aspect the merino wool is more comfy when dry.I tried 3 brands of alpaca socks. The first I forget, they are dead to me now. They were the most expensive and the worst.Second I tried pacas low-cut socks. They are actually no-show which I didn't want. Already minus one point for mislabelling. I couldn't find different thicknesses/weights for the low-cut, and they don't call them anything like "hiking" or "walking" so I don't know how they compare to other ones in their lineup. No-show height aside, I liked them on their own merits but I have switched to so-called barefoot shoes and I still want to wear socks, to survive 8-12 hour days. The pacas were unsuitable for this because (a) too heavy, and (b) being no-show the shoe pulls them down off the ankle during normal walking. The (b) problem is due to the nature of the shoe rather than any problem with the sock itself, but as a "system" of shoe and sock this doesn't work at all for me. And even with my regular sneakers they aren't so awesome over the length of an entire day.Third I tried these, the warriors. i hadn't tried them earlier because they appeared low end at a high end price. I picked these specific ones, the everyday, not intentionally but because these are the ones I could find on amazon. (The other brands aren't sold on amazon -- I bought direct from mfr.) I wouldn't have tried these if I had to buy direct from warrior.So, these are far thinner than the pacas. These are more substantial than standard dress socks, but not by much. I was worried but it turns out they work perfectly with my barefoot shoes! And the ankle height is exactly what I wanted as well. I found I can wear them all day without them getting wet -- even within the shoe they wick away and evaporate effectively. (Probably not true for a sneaker or hiking but for the barefoot shoe which is well ventilated it does work.) So, I love them and my only worry is about the durability over time due to the thin weight. I guess time will tell.I'd say my merino wool socks are done after about 3 years. Those are med to heavy weight socks. The integrity of the fabric is still good as new but they are not anywhere as soft as new after so many washings. I use very gentle detergent, but I do wash them in warm/hot with all other clothes. I'm at a point where I'm willing to pay big bucks for socks (I mean $15 for ONE PAIR? ouch.) but the more longevity I can get the better. I'm hoping that the thin weight of these "everyday" socks somehow means they will stay soft and absorbent for longer.Also, made in "USA and peru" -- meaning peru. Deceptive. (pacas are made in peru, "proudly" ie without the fake "and in USA".) I only buy clothing not made in China so this is important to me. I don't know where the fabric/yarn comes from though and haven't found this info. There are other brands that do say where the fiber comes from but not pacas or warrior that I have found anyway. I have to imagine that the fiber originates from Peru as well, because it wouldn't make sense to ship fiber to Peru for manufacture otherwise -- just manufacture in country of origin (COO).While they (this model) are the same price as pacas, they are much thinner than the pacas. So that's not a fair price comparison.. The warrior model which is slightly heavier weight are also slightly more expensive.The price on amazon is the same as the direct price. So I'm ok to pay the price for the sake of being able to order on amazon. (Some other mfr charge more when ordering on amazon.) Warrior does not make "bundles", that are cheaper per-sock, in this model of sock. So the unit price is the price and that further makes amazon ordering attractive since there's no bundle price disadvantage.
