This shop vac hose appears to be of reasonable quality. It is advertised as 2.5 inch hose but in reality it is only a 2inch hose... Not what wanted. photos as advertised and actual

I needed a new hose for my shop vac, and this seemed like a good option. The first thing I noticed was how stiff the hose actually was. It is coiled for shipping with several straps to hold it in a coil. It's easy to get rid of the straps, just separate them where the strap overlaps itself, or just cut them. That's when I found out how stiff the hose was. I had to bend the hose against the coiled shape along its entire length in order to get it to straighten out. Thinking that was good, I realized that it was still not all that flexible. The old shop vac hose was very flexible, but this was the polar opposite of that. Maybe with use it will eventually loosen up, but that may take some time. Thinking that was my only challenge, I went to attach the adapter that connects it to the shop vac. Uncoiling it was child's play by comparison. Don't get me wrong, the adapter will go on the hose, but not without the use of significant physical force. The adapter must be inserted into the end of the hose. This is not a twist-on end as was one hose I had for an older vacuum. You have to push and push and then realize it won't go. I wish there had been instructions included either in the listing or with the hose kit.I finally figured out that by inserting the adapter into the hose on a slight angle, and while still applying pressure, pivoting the adapter in the opposite direction so the opposite "side" can be pressed down into the hose was the way to go. This is a repetitive step-by-step process as the adapter has to pass through several of the parallel "rings" of the hose to finally fully seat the adapter into the hose. Don't try this if you have arthritic hands. Okay, it's a vacuum cleaner hose. Maybe the frustration of putting it together is skewing my review, but I think others need to know that assembling this hose kit is not a walk in the park.
