I fell in love with this wheel despite its being a touch too thin for the wheels I'm using and MOST IMPORTANTLY having very thin threaded areas for the gear and locknut, after riding a couple miles I decided to test if it would skid or not and was unpleasantly surprised when the locknut came off, stripping those threads. Going to try and jb-weld it together, otherwise hoping to send it back as I can't have a wheel that I can't break with. That wouldn't be funny when approaching an intersection at 20 mph. I was disappointed since this seemed like a good quality tire for the price

This wheel was horrible. The lockring threads stripped after a short period of normal use, leaving the wheel completely useless. The seller has ignored 3 attempts to contact and request a refund. DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE.

Weinmann used to be a highly-regarded German, but don't let that stop you from clicking ADD TO CART. This Chinese wheel is well-built from fine materials. I own two of these for my hot-rodded Diamondback STI-1: one mounted with 32mm Schwalbe Marathon Plus for summer commuting, the other with 35mm Schwalbe studded Marathon for winter commuting (yes, I am insane). I worked my way through college as a bike mechanic starting in 1972 and I've been tooling on these eco-friendly vehicles ever since, so please take my word for it: unless yo're willing to spend $$$ on premium sealed-bearing hubs, 'loose bearings' are the way to go. And the hubs on these wheels are well-made and durable. You'll need a simple Park home tool kit and some Phil Wood grease from the get-go, because Chinese wheel builders seem adverse to grease and over-tightening cones. No big deal. You'll also need a 16mm presta valve rim tape. Best wishes...stay safe out there!

I bought this wheel for a cheap as chips bike I was building. The price was right and I didn't want anything flashy so I could leave this bike anywhere and not have to worry about anyone wanting to steal it.This wheel has performed very well on a bike that gets it's fair share of abuse from riding around the city in all weather conditions. I was a little concerned that the wheel would warp quickly due to the fact that it isn't double walled but it hasn't been an issue so far.I highly recommend this wheel to anyone who is building a bike on a budget, not super concerned with aesthetics, and isn't looking for super high performance.

Bought one for the motorized bike- drilled the six hole disk brake pattern through the large smooth flange and bolted an alloy motor sprocket directly to it- I have a single cog freewheel on the pedal side. Works great. Good Wheel

I ride singlespeeds and fixed bikes....here's a well built, true wheel. I don't care about weight, I want a dependable wheel...and this fits the bill. The hubs needed more lube (what loose ball hub does not need extra from the factory?) and it was adjusted a bit tight, but that's an easy nut to crack....I ride this wheel every day to and from work, loaded with baskets, racks, etc. I do my shopping with this bike and the routes aren't all that smooth, but it's stayed perfectly true. I use a 700X38 tire. Match made in heaven. I would recommend this wheel to any serious rider, no matter the price!

I've been riding fixed gear bikes for about 5 years now and was using a 36h fr/rr set up with the Formula hubs and LP-18 rims on my Masi Sprint Speciale. As cheap fixed gear wheelsets go, these aren't bad. The rims resemble Mavic MA-40 rims from back in the day... similar profile and weight. Pros: Compared to the DP-18's the rims are lighter. Loose bearings make for easy overhauls and smooth rolling hubs. 14g spokes are solid and touch-ups to keep the wheels in true are easy to make. Cons: Apparently, these are a little too lightweight since I broke a spoke on the cog side during a 50 mile ride. With a 36h 14g spoke wheel, this really shouldn't happen. I've kept the front wheel and changed out the LP-18 rim on the rear for a DP-18 and that seems to have worked out.

This is a good, strong wheel. It's simple: it's not flashy or fashionable, and it doesn't feature any stupid fads like deep-Vs. The 36-spokes are not butted/swaged, adding to this wheel's strength.I regularly took this wheel off-road on trails, through puddles, mud, and potholes. After a year of abuse, it was still in true and the bearings did not yet need servicing. I'm happy enough that I just bought my second one.Don't forget to get rim tape too! This wheel does not include rim tape.
