I ordered the highly recommended Sintech adapter, but due to delays in shipping I also ordered this unit in case the first never arrived. I had prepared a Crucial P3 clone of the internal Apple 512GB using an external NVMe enclosure and verified that it booted. Then installed the Crucial into my 2013 MBP 15" Retina with this adapter and ... nothing – the drive wasn't even detected by the system. As it turned out, the Sintech adapter arrived early, so I repeated the process and the Crucial booted up first time. All I can assume is that the Willhom adapter has more issues and the Sintech just works more reliably (as others have attested). So save yourself the time and money and just go buy the Sintech unit and skip this one. Also, the compatibility list this vendor provides is way dated. You can't even buy some of the recommended drives! It just makes the purchase decision even harder. Go with Sintech and have peace of mind.

Worked perfectly in a 2013 Mac Pro, no issues. Can't go wrong.

I have used these guys a bunch of times, without issue, but today I was frustrated. I did my usual method of putting the new SSD into an inexpensive external USB enclosure and then using SuperDuper! to clone the original SSD to the new SSD. When I opened up the MacBook and used the adaptor to install the new SSD, it started to boot just fine, but then I got a circle with a line indicating "no usable OS". When booting into Internet Recovery, or using the original SSD in an external enclosure (which are a bit hard to come by for Apple SSDs), Disk Utility and the command line do not even see the new SSD.Then I recalled that there was a system limitation on non-Apple SSDs - sure enough, I needed it to have High Sierra macOS 10.13. So rather than making a bootable USB installer, I reinstalled the original SSD, updated that to High Sierra (which hopefully also updated the MacBook's firmware if necessary) and then again used the external SSD enclosure and SuperDuper! to clone the Apple SSD to the new, big SSD. Putting the new SSD with this adaptor into the MacBook has resulted in the system booting as desired. Now to further update the MacBook, turn on TRIM support, and get it all working as desired.Remember to update to at least 10.13 everyone!

The installation is fine and it works. Read and write speed is an upgrade. The battery drainage is outrageous. Sleep mode or turning off all background operations wont help with battery saving. I did quite a few test. I put the macbook into sleep mode when it was 100%. 24 hrs later, the macbook wont even turn on. Battery drainage is real after changing SSD.

I wanted to refresh my 13" A1502 and this device is perfect. It's just the adapter not a kit so you need your own screwdrivers to open the MacBook. Also, in my case I had to format the SSD externally otherwise it wouldn't install some files necessary for booting and present on the old SSD. This though has nothing to do with the adapter, just follow the instruction for the SW on YouTube and you will be OK. My sleep function work I can't see differences. In the same session I also installed a new battery (that is not as easy) and I've a new MacBook now, even though mine . I'm using a WD Black SSD and performances are around 1400/1500 MBS Write speed and Read speed. More than doubling what I had before although limited by the old Mac interface. In any case the Mac is much snappier now.

So on my MacBook Pro A1502, the SSD that came with it was already a tight fit, and this adapter was even tighter than that. I had to put a fair amount of force to install it, but not so much that it felt like it was going to break. That being said, I installed my western digital NVMe drive and my MacBook now has 1TB of storage, compared to them easily 128GB it came with, and I shouldn't have to worry about running out of space for a very long time.

Used this to put a nvme drive in a 2017 27” iMac.Was very easy to install and fit in the logic port port and the nvme snugly without concern that it might come loose. Using this, I was still able to use the default screw location to hold the SSD in place.Getting around 2800 read/write with BlackMagic test, exactly what I would expect with the drive I used.No sleep/wake problems or other concerns.
