WT61P’s scientific name is the AHRS IMU sensor. A sensor measures 3-axis angle, angular velocity, acceleration. WitMotion WT61P integrates a high-precision gyroscope, accelerometer, and adopts a high-performance microprocessor, advanced dynamics fusion algorithm, and Kalman dynamic filtering algorithm to quickly analyze the module's current real-time motion posture.

  • By WitMotion advanced digital filtering technology, the sensor can effectively reduce measurement noise and improve measurement accuracy
  • With its in-built posture solver and the dynamic Kalman filter algorithm, the sensor can accurately output the current posture of the product in a dynamic environment. The measurement accuracy of the X and Y axis can reach 0.05°, and the stability is extremely high.

Connection with External GPS Module

The attitude sensor module can be connected to all GPS modules that comply with the NMEA-0183 specification to form a GPS-IMU inertial navigation system to obtain information such as longitude, altitude, heading, speed, and displacement.

Such as the NEO-6MGPS module.

The sensors perform pretty well for being $30 sensors. There is definitely a fair bit of work necessary if you are not familiar with how these things work and are trying to use your own software instead of the manufacturer’s. That being said, once they are configured to your liking, they mostly work well.I may have gotten a defective unit(s) but I purchased two and had the same problem with both: The TX/RX channels do not appear to work, even when using the manufacturer’s software. Thankfully, the I2C channels worked fine and they are what I really wanted to use anyways.The support team went above and beyond and helped me as best they could, given that I am someone who started this project with no understanding of how to use these at all. Special thanks to Ms. Luo on the Wit Motion support team for her help.

Z-axis error is described in the product introduction: "Note: There will be acculated error on Z-axis angle by time when moving. It is required to calibrate." But did not expect it could be that much.In my testing, I rotated the sensor around Z-axis 180 degrees two or three times in normal speed (not fast), the Z-axis angle error will be too much (tens of degree). The only calibration I found is Zero the Z-axis angle but it doesn't help in reducing the error.
