This 3-dimensional boot contours the foot while minimizing excess bottom rubber to make for a true board feel. The Celliant Black with Channel Flex makes it warm and comfortable, the Drylock Cuff opening prevents flushing, the ergonomic strap keeps your heel in the pocket and pressure off your instep, and the heel strap makes for easy pull up.

ABOUT XCEL

Ed D’Ascoli founded Xcel in 1982, working from the bedroom of his Sunset Beach house. D’Ascoli found no shortage of inspiration from the world-class performances on display at his doorstep; and the opportunity to create and to connect high-performance products with the athletes who demanded them was irresistible. Xcel’s passionate focus on product development would become the defining characteristic of the brand.

Developing wetsuits in Hawaii came naturally to D’Ascoli, having grown up surfing New Jersey’s chilly Atlantic coasts. While temperate Hawaii waters rarely call for any more than 2mm neoprene, Sunset Beach and other North Shore breaks are incredibly challenging and demand world-class products for maximum performance.

Drawing upon his enthusiasm and experience helping establish Victory Wetsuits (Japan) as an international brand, D’Ascoli quickly laid the foundations of a core wetsuit company that would revolutionize the industry and push the cutting edge of material and design development.

After penetrating the surfing market, Xcel rode its rapid growth into expanding its offerings and found wider audiences across the ocean. Today, surf, dive, UV protection, paddle, and wake combine to form the core of Xcel’s brand appeal. In 1990, D’Ascoli moved Xcel from Sunset Beach into its present headquarters in Haleiwa. Soon after, to better service Xcel retailers on the mainland, the brand opened a warehouse in California. This West Coast location facilitated Xcel’s entry into the recreational diving market. Using successful features and vast product knowledge of its successful surf and military wetsuits, Xcel quickly raised the bar for dive wetsuit design.

Glued and Bindstitched

A fully sealed, maximum stretch seam construction. Neoprene panels are glued and pressed together, then blindstitched (needle doesn't fully penetrate neoprene, keeping more water out).

Drylock Ankle Seals

An Xcel exclusive, this seamless, engineered "donut seal" construction keeps more water out, minimizes flushing, and forms a snug, comfortable seal and a better fit with your wetsuit.

Limestone Neoprene

Xcel uses earth-minded limestone to replace processed petrochemicals in our neoprene, reducing dependence on petroleum and the harmful practice of processing it.

I SWIM IN THE ATLANTIC YEAR ROUND AND COUNT A LOT ON BOOTIES. MINE FROM LAST YEAR STAYED DRY THROUGHOUT NOVEMBER TO APRIL! I’M STUCK NOW WITH THESE BECAUSE I CAN’T SEND THEM BACK AFTER USING THEM EVEN ONE TIME. MINE ARE SIZE 10 AND 7 NEOPRENE - I’D LOVE TO HAVE ANOTHER PAIR THAT WORKS! MAYBE SIZE 10 WAS FOR MEN AND THAT’S WHY THE WATER SEEPS RIGHT IN?

These boots were so warm in the cold water, and kept water out so I was disappointed when they ripped (big rip) after a handful of sessions. The rip occurred from me pulling them off, just as I’ve done a hundred times with my other boots. I really loved them but they just didn’t last long enough to buy again. I do see I’m not the only one who had this issue, so I hope xcel can address what looks to be a design flaw...because the warmth was great while it lasted.
