I use these for protection from shells and the like while getting to and from the water and while windsurfing. They're not going to protect you from an exposed nail or probably a really nasty oyster shell either, but for the occasional underwater ugliness they're just fine. Even without a strap they stay on quite well both walking and then once sailing both in and out of the footstraps. They'd be good for SUP and kiteboarding too I'm sure.

Great for windsurfing! Feels like I am windsurfing barefoot but my feet are protected. Thin but really strong wear resistant sole

Very comfortable, well fitting and easy to use. No separate insoles to deal with. Smaller drain holes and no mesh panels keep silt and sand buildup inside to a minimum. I use these for surfski paddling, I needed to have protection on my soles to get in the water where I paddle but also didn't want something too bulky for getting my feet in the footwell and under the footboard strap. These fit the bill perfectly. I purchased them smaller than my typical shoe size as I wanted them to be tighter fitting, no slipping once on the feet. Wouldn't hesitate to buy these again.

We do not surf but like to walk the beach and climb around tide pools. Initially I bought one pair for myself after severely injuring my toe on a shell. Now everyone in my family has one pair. The soles are pretty thick however they are very flexible. Some sand does get in eventually but since there is no insole it poses no problem. Tried many other store bough models and insoles usually get crinkly and bunch up causing discomfort. had one pair for 3 years and 2 pairs for one year. The oldest one is still as good as new. Every summer we go to the beach at least once a week and then we go to Hurricane Harbor at least 2 to 3 times a year. These watershoes have lived through alot and they are still very much intact. People on the beach constantly inquire about them.

Good for the price and light use. I now want a pair that go over the ankle and zip up so that they won't peel off with my fins on.
