I bought this adapter because my small hammer drill quit on me and since I also have a larger SDS hammer drill I could still use smaller non-SDS drill bits. However, when I went to use it the first time, I found the bit keep slipping down in the jaws. I finally slid the bit out as far as I could and tightened as hard as I could and it finally held long enough to get the hole drilled. Then when I went to remove it I could not get it to release. I have to use 2 plyers to twist open to get the bit out. If you have a hex shank drill bit it will work better.

I hammer drilled 3...... 5/32" holes and the chuck self destructed. The drill shank bored right through the left hand threaded, counter sunk philips head screw that holds the chuck to the SDS adapter and broke it off. This rendered it unuseable.
