This is a far superior alternative to yarn bowls! I'm thrilled because I don't always use the whole skein. I have a dowel board where I hang all of my yarn, and pulling the yarn from the outside means I can put the skein back up onto the dowel without it hanging funny after taking a good portion of the yarn from the inside. This is wonderful!

Overall, this yarn spinner is fine. It comes in pieces and you have to assemble it, but it didn't come with any instructions on the box to do so. However, it's fairly easy to do so by looking at the pictures on the product page. The magnet seems strong enough (I haven't pulled it off yet while using it), and it's pretty neat once it's together and you're using it. The quality is average. The screw that's meant to attach the bottom of the yarn holder wasn't inserted properly, so would just come out when you screwed the bottom in. I had to glue it in there with superglue before I could screw the whole thing together.

I highly recommend this yarn holder. It can be used with skeins fresh from the package or wound on a yarn winder (it will not work with balls of yarn, for obvious reasons). It has helped me maintain an even tension in my projects, and for the most part feeds easily, although sometimes when the yarn is at the bottom of the skein it will get a little stuck at first. The magnetic connection at the top prevents the yarn from spinning and tangling.

This is a review for Yarn Holder Spinner, Wooden Yarn Holder Magnetic Mount 360 Degree Rotating Easy Release Yarn Ball HoldersThis thing is a piece of junk as-is. The holes that should hold the wood anchors (the metal things the screws are screwed in to) were drilled too large. If you have some wood glue, you can fix this and make it functional by gluing those metal things in, but otherwise, it's wiggly and unstable and basically junk. My spouse is the handy type and glued the wood anchors back in so it functions as designed. In addition, the wood base had some random little holes/dots where two pieces of wood were joined end to end. Overall, just not a very well-made piece.

The screw popped of had to super glue it back on. Other than that it works great

I have a small dog that LOVES to grab my yarn and run around the room like a crazy critter. And there is no catching her until she is done. I try my best to keep my yarn away from her, but every so often I get distracted working on a project, and my yarn will roll onto the floor. BAM! Within seconds, turbo-pup has the yarn ball tangled around the room. So, that’s where this yarn holder comes into play! And what a gift it was. It is so easy to put together, and the main yarn holder is magnetic. You just slide the pole into your yarn ball and click it to the magnet on the main holder. It moves with the yarn as you pull it. It sits firmly on my side table as I crochet, and no more rolling yarn balls across the floor. The unit is very attractive wood, one that you don’t mind having out on the table when guests come over. I love this thing! (My dog hates it)

This is such a simple idea, yet a truly useful addition to my knitting tool bag. It arrived in a flat box protected by foam with cutouts for the pieces. It included everthing necessary to assemble it as far as hardware. The package did not include any assembly or usage instructions, but both are so intuitive it's not a real problem. I worried that a skein of yarn would be too heavy for the magnet to hold the rod in place. It wasn't. I worried that pulling the yarn as it unraveled would pull the skein off the holder. It didn't. I enjoy using this yarn holder so much more than my yarn bowls. It's easier to push the yarn onto the spindle, rather than having to thread it through a hole as some of my bowls require. The yarn is not dragging across the bowl's surface, which can fray the yarn, but rather swinging freely as it unrolls. Since I use less expensive, very utilitarian yarn bowls, this holder is much more attractive. I am so very pleased with this item, just tickled pink.

I had been thinking about getting one of these, but saw mixed reviews. It won’t hold a full sized skein, but does very well with cakes of yarn. I usually rewind my yarn into cakes, because they tangle much less that way, so I’m very happy with it.
