This did not fit into my son's saxophone. We have a mid-range standard alto sax, purchased within the last 5 years. This was too big to fit into the lyre hole so we needed to file it down to make it fit. Now it works fine!

My daughter needed a lyre for her tenor saxophone and her school couldn’t provide one so I found this one for her. She said she likes it because it’s easy to attach to her tenor sax and it seems pretty stable. The clamp is strong so she doesn’t have to worry about losing her music. She said to rate it 5 stars because it’s exactly what she needed and it worked for her.

This lyre will do the job, but I do worry about its durability as the metal of the back plate (that the spring-arms clamp against) is pretty thin. As far as fit I tried it in 3 of our school tenor saxes. It was a loose fit in the Yamaha (though the set screw should hold it firmly), was a perfect fit in the Mendini, and was too big for our old Bundy tenor sax. Keeping that in mind, I've often taken a file to lyres to get them to fit, and wouldn't hesitate with this as well.
