Pros:- Easy to put together and operate. You can just throw ice cubes into the shaving compartment if you want, but freezing a disc in the provided container makes for a much smoother and easier shaving experience.- Looks and feels well-built, doesn't feel like it's going to fall apart after three uses.- You can make shaved ice out of whatever you want - we tried using concentrated lemonade syrup to flavor some plain ice, and it was a little too strong, so then we just froze some lemonade in the disc and shredded that, which worked well enough (though that could have been a tiny bit *stronger*). We tried orange juice; it turned out more sour than expected but not bad. It seems like freezing kool-aid or similar (maybe made a little stronger than normal) would work really well if you don't want to go out and buy syrups just for this.- Little kids can probably turn the crank with an adult holding the machine steady, but will probably get both physically tired and tired of it quickly. Older kids with slightly longer attention spans are likely to be happy to crank the machine for five straight minutes if the reward is their own shaved ice to eat.Cons:- Really only makes one serving at a time. This wouldn't be an issue if it didn't require so much effort every time, but it's a lot of work for not much reward. Kids might do it enthusiastically if you won't take them to Snowie as often as they'd like, but adults will probably not find it worth your while once the novelty wears off. If you really love shaved ice as an adult, you're probably better off paying more for a machine that does it automatically.- Along the same lines, it only comes with one container to freeze a disc with - if you have more than one kid, you'll need to find a way to freeze more at one time, unless they're willing to share the one serving.

Machine works perfectly, is very easy to use and takes up relatively little space. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because you have to use the container it comes with to freeze your ice into a certain shape and it only makes one serving. Then you have to wait to freeze more ice to make more.It would be better if it came with at least 2 containers to freeze ice or if you could use regular ice cubes. Other than that, my 10-year-old loves it and she's able to make her own snow cones with it.

This is a must have for anyone who loves snow cones! The shaved ice comes out soft, just the way I like it! Overall, I'm pleased with this snow cone. I do wish they provided more ice molds b/c lets be honest here, we use more than one at a time! Other than that, I love that I can get shaved ice in just minutes with this shaved ice maker! Summer is here so this came in at the right time!

This hand cranked sno-cone make is perfect for hot days! No electricity required and a way to get the kids involved! This is nicely designed and looks nice in the kitchen! It's small so it's easy to store away when not in use! I chose to freeze some lemonade cubes and use those vs syrups. I put half a tray in so it has a pretty large capacity I did learn though that the way it twits off is the same way you have to essentially turn the handle which when as full as I had it does make it harder to do and when holding I actually twisted the top off so I wouldn't fill to the Max. It was easy to turn and shaved the ice very fine and nice with no issues! The convient little tray to catch I feel like could be a bit wider to essentially fit better but it catches alot and one full container will fill the bottom. I was able to give my kids two decently sized shaved ices! They love this and will definitely be a hit at any party or outside treat!

This has been so much fun to play with and enjoy. I had my 14 yr old son and his buddies all about the same age, making snow cones together. They had a blast. The thing I like about this unit over others is one the price. But secondly the quality of the machine. It doesn't just create crushed pieces of ice it actually shaved it. I took a bowl and froze water in it. Having the smooth base to it and one chucked piece I think is what made it work even better. It did work well and had a great quality to the end result but the solid piece just seemed to work better. It truly shaved the ice and didn't just bust it up. The unit is durable and didn't break the first time we turned the handle. The only down fall I would say there is is that the bowl to catch it in as it comes out doesn't really fit in afea very well. It doesn't fit snug into the cavity of it. There is a gap around the bowl instead of it being made to fit the area completely. This allows for the ice to run over the sides of it and not collect in the cup its self. It did create a bit of a water mess to clean up. But beyond that I love it and we will continue to use it often. The boys all liked being able to make it themselves. My boys are teens but easily this could be used for younger children as well, may just need to give some adult supervision with the sharp blade. The blade has held up well and believe me the boys put it to the test. The shaver as a whole held up well and was easy to use. It is made of quality materials and doesn't break easily. I was able to purchase the flavorings that are premade with the other shavers on the market. Aside from some muscle work you would never know it wasn't done by a machine. This is a great purchase and source of entertainment for kids and adults.

Really cute and really good quality. Turning the crank easily turned the large frozen ice cube into fluffy snow! I did see in the seller's description that this has an adjustable blade to make the ice fine or coarse. When it arrived I didn't see any info in the instructions about an adjustable blade or see any possible way the blade is adjustable. However, I did make a snow cone with my own syrup and cones that I purchased separately on Amazon. I do see value in this purchase because this ice shaver is well made.
