These are WAY nicer than what came with my gas fire pit. These are actual rock, they are heavy and don’t float like the bag of dusty, crumbling, lightweight pumice that came with my fire pit. I used those in plants and replaced them with these. These are beautiful rocks, no dust and crumbling apart and they hold heat very well. I got ten pounds, I put all of them on a standard Corelle dinner plate, so you can see what ten pounds looks like and have a size reference. The sizes vary as you can see and they are all nicely rounded like river rock, only they are lava rock so they can withstand very high heat. These are great but unfortunately, ten pounds was not enough for my 15” round opening on my fire pit, based on the lightweight pumice I had, I figured ten pounds would be a lot more rocks but because these are very heavy you don’t get a lot. I will put the stuff that came with the pit on the bottom and put these much nicer ones on top. Pricey but good quality, heavy, attractive lava rocks

Ten pounds is not a lot of rock, so count on getting at least a couple more bags if you need this for a decent sized fire pit or garden bed. We have a small entry area to a patio door that is always wet, so folks track in mud and mulch. We'll mix these with black river rock to cover that over, creating a dry stone top layer. This rock is pitted, but with a smooth surface, so it will allow for drainage and will be easy to step on, even with bare feet.

This ten pound bag of rocks arrived in a bag and contained 20 various sizes of lava rocks in the 2-3 inch range. These rocks are smooth but have a lot of pits over the surface...some more than others. I liked that there was a varying color of grey in the mix. Some of the sizes were flatter while others were more rounded. I use these outside in landscape rock areas and they fit in great and because they have some weight, I don't have to be concerned about them getting displaced easily. Also, since these stones are made for fire areas, they tolerate the sun very well.

Nice product except i thought one bag would be enough for my LPG fire pit. Youll need at least 3 bags
