This binding machine did not work out of the box. The left half of the punches were stuck and would not release and therefore would not punch any pages. My husband and I had to remove the cover and figure out that the release was stuck. Then, even after it released, you could even just punch 1 page of 20 pound paper and the punches would stick again.Now, I ordered this because I needed it and quickly and next day deliver was available in my area.I still need it. So, I figured “I have to pop the punch after every use, I can work around that.” Didn’t bother me too much. I successfully bound 3 80+/- page booklets.Now today, with schools out across the country and several of my friends and family needing workbooks printed and bound for their children, I sit down to try it again. I did not even get through the first booklet I had printed, punches these things 3 pages at a time, and it broke. Something snapped and the left half of the punch will no longer go down.Dumb thing can’t even make up its mind if it wants to be stuck up or down.Anyway, I’m returning this and will be getting a refund. I’ll also be ordering one from a more well-known company (ahem Fellowes ahem) and just dealing with the longer shipping time. I should’ve just done that to start with.

I am not able to use this machine. There is a flaw which blocks paper from being inserted. In the photo it is visible as a bolt that protrudes up from the bottom. Poor workmanship!

We bought this for a rush job that needed to be done the day we received it. What a nightmare! When you load the plastic comb onto the binding machine and push the lever, the tines just push the plastic rather than engage it. If you push down on the spine while pushing the handle (this will require multiple people) it probably will engage most of them - until you try to open it wide enough to put your document in - then they start popping off. There is no way to effectively catch the combs and open them. We wasted hours of valuable time trying to get it to work (assuming we were just inept) until we realized that success was simply impossible. Product quality is just not there. It is also very flimsy despite the fact the tines are metal. I did not expect a crackerjack machine at this price, but I expected it to work.
