The first thing to recognize with this item is -- instead of a length of elastic cord with a hook at either end -- the cord is looped so that both ends are secured to the same hook. This design restricts where/how it can be be used. The cord stretches to a maximum diameter of about 5", so if the object being tied down is that width or less this style of bungee should work -- although I'm not sure why you wouldn't just use a standard straight bungee cord.Anyhow, the cord has the right amount of elasticity, it's firmly seated inside the hook base, and the hook's tip is covered with a rubber cap to minimize the possibility of leaving scratch marks. If this type of bungee cord is suitable for your application, it's priced fairly and should be pretty durable.

These bungee cords are probably the highest quality bungees I’ve ever ordered, but they’re very short - great for staking down tents, but right on edge of too short for my needs. They’re also quite stiff - very little “give” with the cord itself - which can be a very good thing. Once the weather gets better (it’s in the teens to low 20’s with wind and snow right now) I’ll use these to replace long bungees holding down the tarp over my patio bar. Once these are attached wind will no longer be able to blow up under the tarp and lift it off the bar (the current bungees - with lots of play - sometimes detach when it gets real windy). It would be nice if these were also offered in a 2nd length - maybe a 14” version for places on my bar where these 7” bungees are too short, then I can get rid of the long bungees. My camping days are over, but it would have been wonderful to have these back in the day. I knocked one star off just for the lack of ‘give” in the cord, which makes it just a little harder for my use.
