Super nice quality crab snare. I used to make these things my self but these have a couple little engineering tricks up their sleeve that make them much more effective. One - the loops are pinched down in a way that makes them sit vertically, which makes it much more effective at tangling the crab up.Two - the weight is near the back of the trap so when you pull it in if the crab is on top of the snare it won't flip him off.Three- the snares themselves are made of some nice smooth stuff, that seems porpoise intended, (not just trimmer line)This thing catches crabs and has the best design I have run in to over the years.

This is a well thought out bundle for catching crabs from a dock. All you need to provide is line to tie this trap snare to. Bait is even included. Yes! I would recommend using a fishing rod with at least 20 lbs test line to connect this trap snare to. The box recommends 50 lbs braid. The trap snare has an integrated weight. Adding your favorite crab bait (some people prefer chicken parts) will add more weight. You could fit a partial chicken drumstick in the trap. Toss it in and wind it in every so often (maybe 5 minutes). Make sure the trap lies flat and not on end. Ideally, you use this on a sandy bottom. Keep the tension constant while winding up the trap snare quickly and smoothly, but not jerking on it. The snares are designed to grip onto and entangle the crab legs. 2 extra snares are included. Good Luck!

I haven't taken it out in the field yet, but my initial impression of the AirFly 6-Loop Crab Trap is quite positive. The loops don't lay down as I'd like and thus I am concerned about the ability to catch the crabs on it's own. However, the build quality feels very robust and strong, which is reassuring for a piece of equipment that will be used in demanding marine environments. I'm optimistic about its durability and ability to withstand the rigors of crabbing. The design with six loops, along with dedicated bait and reserve loops, seems well-thought-out for efficiently catching Dungeness, Rock, and Blue Crabs. The fact that it's made in the USA is also a significant plus, suggesting a commitment to quality manufacturing. If the loops themselves don't work, I will use the cage itself in my other crab cages or traps if need me but I am hopeful it will work. While I can't speak to its performance in catching crabs yet, based on its apparent strength and solid construction, I would recommend it for anyone looking for a reliable crab trap, or at least, bait holder. I'm looking forward to getting it out on the water and putting it to the test.

I've only practice with it in my yard. Add casting with it. I actually can't cast very far a grate, probably off the pier, or a boat or somewhere you don't have to cast very far. I couldn't cast very far, but it looks like very easy to use. And I can cast it a ways just not as far as I'd hoped. So when I go to the beach, I'll give it a try. I don't know if I can cast out far. Enough to get crabs, that's what I wanted to do with it, but off the piers, not having to pull stuff up by hand that'll be very cool.So I'll update this review maybe midsummer, but looks good. It'll work no doubt

I haven't used this yet, but looks and feels like a quality piece. I need to make sure it's legal for use in my area in Florida on Bluecrab. I had to watch a couple of youtube videos to see how it's used. I'm very much looking forward to trying it out, I have a craving for some crab.

We haven’t had an opportunity to try this out in the real world yet, but the bait basket is of good size to hold enough for several catches without interfering with the trap operation, and the loops contract quickly and tightly when the fishing rod is tugged. The basket itself has a good waterproof coating to prevent rust, and extra snare loops are included. Just tested it on a crab-walking hand, but it worked great!

This crab snare is really good quality made in the USA. This snare is made specifically for heavy crab like Dungeness. The snare consists of a metal cage that is weighted so that you can cast it far and it'll sink and stay on the bottom with the six snares attached upside down. It is designed so that you put the bait inside of the cage and the crab will be attracted to the scent. They will get their legs entangled in the snares and when you pull back on your fishing pole, the tension on the snares will singe up around the crab's legs. The Airfly 6 loop Crab trap also comes with a packet of dried squid, which is a favorite scent attractant for crab. This is something that you can reuse over and over again. And there are additional snares, two of them, in case you break one or two. You will need a heavy line and a heavy duty fishing pole and reel if you really want to get it far out into a Bay or the ocean. You can use hand throws with this as well if you are doing this from a dock. The cage is metal that is coated so that it will not rust and let water penetrate into it. The trap itself weighs 5 oz with a 2 oz weight inside once you add some bait to it it will get even heavier that is why you need a heavy line to be able to pull in several crabs at once. It is recommended to use at least 50 lb test braided line with a trap like this.

I've never used this kind of crab snare trap but this contains everything you need (except for a pole, reel, and line) to start fishing for crab. The cage is smaller than I expected but still holds plenty of bait. There are 6 snares pre-attached but it also came with 2 extra snares in case they get damaged or lost at sea. The box also came with freeze dried squid with a special attractant to use in the cage. Lastly, I like that there is a snap leader attached to the trap so I can easily connect it to a barrel swivel or line and quickly detach, if-needed. Everything appears to be of good quality and it's not too heavy so if additional weight is needed, you can easily stick a lead weight or two inside the cage for it to sink down to the bottom.
