Does anybody remember that old T.Rex song?OK.This is a perfect mallet for using with a gong. I have a 24" Paiste gong. (Don't hate me because I'm beautiful.) I've been using a solid, dense cotton beater, more made for marching band tom-tom playing, and this mallet is better. It has a nice solid core, covered in what is likely a synthetic lamb's wool material.The construction results in a warm, rounded attack, without harsh overtones, and then the gong can speak openly and fully thereafter.Little, if any, shock to the hand and wrist, while striking the gong.Very nice, and about half the price of "name-brand" gong mallets.
