Recently I took a course in cake decorating in a professional bakery. Park of my training was creating buttercream roses using a cake flower nail. After the course was over I wanted to continue honing my skills at home and shopped around for cake flower nails and found it here. This cake flower nail is an exact replica of what was used in the professional bakery. It comes in a variety of sizes so you can create great big buttercream flowers or little one, the sky is the limit. Very well worth the small cost!

Buying a non-name brand is always a gamble. This time, I got a winner. These are just as solid as the other rose nail I had from another kit and that one was too small, according to my teacher in my beginner class. She said I needed a #7. For the record, my previous nail was the same size as the smallest one in this kit, so I presume the #7 is the second size up.I love having the little rubber tip on the bottom, because the nail tips are fairly sharp (I've seen people put them into wood or styrofoam to allow the flowers to dry). The rubber is good to hold and also gives a little stopper to keep your grip while twirling.The variety of sizes is perfect. The smallest will be good for rose buds. The next is good for traditional roses. But sometimes you need a bigger nail for the bigger flowers and it helps getting the variety in this group.Other reviewers complained that their nails came bent in shipping and I saw pictures showing the packaging in plastic bag. That almost kept me from buying it. However, mine arrived in a small box about the size of a 3 x 5 recipe card box which was just large enough to hold the rose nails and not a single one was at all bent. Perhaps they learned their lesson and decided to spend a smidge more in packing so they could eliminate the problems of damage. If so, smart move.At first, I thought the plastic scissors used to remove the roses were total junk. To my surprise, it was what everyone in class uses, including the person who works in a donut shop (she had 4 pair and even gave me a pair because she said. "I have so many of these!") and the teacher. So, obviously, these aren't junk, they are standard. And the trick to using them is that you just close them under the flower about one-third the way, bring them down to the cake, then open them up a little bit and use the tip of the nail to push the flower off the scissors a little bit as you are opening the scissors. But practice it first.So, all in all, this set is a great bargain, great variety, and really, very good quality. Even the shipping container has improved. It is a winner.

Set comes with a few different sized flower nails which should be all you need. They are stainless steel so they won't break or rust. Be careful- the edges are sharp enough to cut your finger on, and for some reason, they made the "stem" like a screw, instead of smooth. You get 2 pairs of flower scissors- they are both the same size and made of very lightweight plastic. Not sure how long they will last but will work for now. Overall, decent product for the price.

Great value for price. For something listed for beginners, there should be an instruction guide for them inside. There isn't. I knew how to use all the tips, but someone new would benefit from a guide.
