How to Use Cartridge Puller to Remove Faucet Cartridge
Step 1
- Turn the water supply off and open handle to relieve water pressure
- Remove the clip from valve body
Step 2
- Unscrew the screw
- The hex nut should be unscrewed so one thread is visible at the bottom. Set the tool on the cartridge. Fit the tabs on the tool between the tabs of the cartridge
- Screw the screw down into the cartridge stem. Turn it until it stops
- Screw the hex nut down until it stops on the valve
Step 3
Grip the “T” Handle and pull firmly straight outward. If it still can't be pulled out, tighten the hex nut with a adjustable wrench. The cartridge can now be pulled out of the valve body

This product worked fine for a Moen cartridge that wasn’t too petrified; however, the next one was not an easy removal. The threads on this tool were easily destroyed annd locked up and the ‘T’ handle was bending. I resulted in using a large vise grip and a pry bar to back the 18 year old cartridge out of the shower valve.Didn’t pay much, didn’t get much.

My shoes valve was REAAAALY stuck and even with this tool it took some considerable effort to remove. More the fault of our corroded shower valve than the tool - just mentioning it because don't assume that just because you bought a special tool it automatically comes out easily.

Yeah Moen cartridge replacement seemed like an easy thing until it disintegrated. So I ended up having to purchase this tool, and with some other adaptations I was able to get the old one out and get a new one and everybody gets a shower

This worked great to get my cartridge out but the Moen cartridges last so long I don't know if I'll need this again for another 20 years. At least it's not expensive!

This fits the Moen 1200 shower valve perfectly. It works well. The tool is made of aluminum so it's lightweight. For valves that are stuck firmly in place, I am not sure this tool is strong enough to get the job done. However, this tool covers the majority of cases with no problem. I think it's well made and of pretty good quality.
