Cannot keep the heat regulated. I had to get up every 2 hours at night to either turn it up or down. It’s the same temp in the whole box so the babies cannot have a choice to stay cooler or hotter. The thermometer that comes with it was registering 7 degrees hotter than it should have. Didn’t realize this until I put 2 other thermometer’s in. Lost 2 baby Quail. By the 4th day I used what I normally use and that is a heat lamp over a storage bin.

Best brooder ever. I’ve raised 100s of chicks, goslings, ducks, quail and many more but this was by far the easiest. I used pet pee pads and changed them daily more often it needed. Food and water containers worked well for a bit but as the chicks (10) got bigger and added bigger watering jar and used feeders that came with brooder as feeders. Read directions well have to adjust temp control as needed. As they get older they need much heat on due to body heat. Healthy happy pullets are already in their grown up pen. My only wish would be bigger brooder lol more chicks and stay in it for longer. I enjoyed this hands on experience with 3 of my granddaughters. Great value in my book. Design great to put together and store flat on a shelf. Very sturdy once put together correctly.

I wanted to like this. I bought a larger one for chickens and a smaller one for quail. So far the smaller one works okay. The bigger one has an issue with humidity. Maybe my turkey poults are just dumb and keep spilling their water, but the box is a humidity trap and doesn’t ventilate well enough. The sides and top get covered in humidity and then everything in the box including my chicks end up wet. Improvements needed before I’ll try it again.Edit: smaller one stopped working properly too. I uploaded a picture of it when I went to clean it to return it.

It works great. Keeps chicks warm and it is snake proof. That last one is very important where I live. Bull snakes will kill and eat chicks.

I have been raising chickens for years. This is a great brooder box and it’s easy to assemble and clean. I wouldn’t put more than 4 chicks in it because it is small. The only concern I have is with the heating lamps. Using 2 lamps no matter how low the temperature dial is turned is a bit too hot for them and they have no area to cool down if needed. I am only using 1 of the lamps and it regulates the temp better but I’m going to replace the heating lights with a better safer heating unit. In all this is a great little box for a small started flock.

We have bought multiple of the smaller units with no issues however this bigger unit doesnt seems to be able to withstand the heat from the light as one of our bulb holders fell through and into the coop area as the heat had melted the small amount of plastic it has to retain the bulb. If we werent home and the chicks werent making a lot of noise it could have been a fire. We had to move the screw to the upper side to stop the unit falling through
