These have been painted. The metal has to be pried apart to be used because they appear to have painted over the ring so that it sticks together. Once it is pried apart, so you can actually put a key on the ring, you can feel these will not hold up. If you want a durable ring that can hold several keys and stay useful, this is not it. And they cost 12.99! If you want a black 2” ring you might as well buy the cheaper silver 2” rings for 5.99 and take a can of spray paint to them. Its the same thing. And will most likely loose keys. Junk!

I'm using this in a different way...I am using it to pull on my tennis shoes...My shoes have a tab thatI can't get my finger into, works great.
