This assembly increases belt life, because the belt maintains ideal tension as it wears. Features round, torsion-spring technology instead of a flat-spring due to inherent corrosion protection.

Looks beat to hell right out of the box. The mold they are using to cast the thing must be right clapped out. It has burrs and sharp edges all over it. The tensioner arm doesn't actuate as smoothly as even the original part that I'm replacing. Feels grindy and full of little detents. Also, it doesn't actuate in a straight line. It kind of tweaks off to one side under torque. I'm replacing the factory tensioner because both the original pulley bearings are shot and the thing has 220,000 miles on it. It was beginning to chirp the belt during high RPM gear changes and wasn't keeping adequate tension. This new part came with no-name bearings in the pulleys that I expect are Chinese. It is IMPOSSIBLE to know what you're going to get with aftermarket car parts anymore. Even stuff that is expensive and supposed to be good doesn't seem to have any kind of quality control. The fact that this part says "Made in Canada" where most of the parts for this truck were made originally, doesn't seem to matter. I expected Canadian NTN bearings and a better quality part for $50.

Fits on a 2005 Jeep Liberty 3.7 v6. The idler pully is larger and appears more durable than oem, and the housing is a little bit smaller than oem but it doesn't affect operation. My box said it was made by Continental, but some quick googling turns out that its the same product. I expected it to be made overseas, but it's made in Canada. I'll report back in year.ps. it does come with a hex bolt, but if you don't wanna use an allen key to tighten it: the old bolt will work fine.

The quality of this part seems superior to factory, which held up for 140K miles. Only replaced it as a precaution since I was replacing the radiator and all other cooling system parts.

The belt tensioner fits well to my Jeep and it eliminated this awful racket that the old one was making.
