This biometric gun safe's main advantage is quick interior access by fingerprint or code, and both are easy to set up following the well written instructions. Key entry is on the bottom of the unit. This can be more difficult to access quickly if the safe is mounted where that area would be difficult to reach. You'll need to customize the supplied padding inside the case for your weapon. There is an automatic interior light but when you open the safe and pull out the holder, most of the light is blocked inside the case.

Cannot set code or fingerprint no matter how many times I try. Must have taken batteries out over a dozen times. Default code doesn't work either.Update - seller issued me a full refund, and in a timely matter

It's a little bulkier than others and the mounting bracket could be better. However, I gave it 3 stars because the fingerprint doesn't always work. Have not had any issues opening with the code option so I guess for the price, it's not too bad.UPDATE: I previously gave them a 3 star rating because of the fingerprint issue. However, this company has amazing customer service!!! Also, after taking their time, they suggested to use a different finger. Though, I would prefer to use my index finger, i have now set up my thumb and it has worked every single time. Definitely a great product! Thank you guys for the time you dedicated to my issue!

All in all this is a pretty good safe for having just a handgun in close range by your bed. Saves space compared to other ones I had too.

I have just received this unit. I am impressed.The unit is heavy - the book says its about 12 pounds and i believe it. The metal is not horrible and a good thickness. Lets take a note, this is not in my opinion going to stop a drive thief. This is to keep children from your stored items.The unlock via Keypad is extremely quick. It ejects it out at you quickly and with surprise. If you need your firearm then this will very quickly make it accessible if the need arises. It has a nice blue LED that eliminates the area when it ejects and stays on for a second or two.The battery compartment is behind the unit accessible from the outside. I had fears that this would make it easier to get into. I tested the ability to set a passcode with the numbers, but then remove the battery and see if it would revert back to the default passcode. It does NOT do this, it must store the code into the chipset as it was able to completely lose power and not revert back to the default passcode. This was great !Set up was super easy - read the manual. Took me just a few moments to get the custom passcode and the fingerprints to register. Which were able to be used very quickly, very little lag time on biometrics.The padding within easily holds compact and sub compact, with the option for full-size. You do have to CUT the padding if you have larger optics or a light attached. The padding is a firm almost 'seat' like foam that is very forgiving.Mounting the unit was very easy with a few screws you were good to go. I would highly recommend upgrading the screws to something sturdier.I would NOT install the alkaline batteries that are provided as this is a long term limited or little use device that would surely do better with lithium batteries that don't leech when they are drained and can ruin the unit without you knowing it.And lastly, while the blue light is great, when fully deployed the light goes behind the foam and gets covered up and does not adequately illuminate the fully deployed slide.Quality is there, for the price this is great.
