Went through all the work to replace this on my 04 1.8t after the OEM one started leaking. It's a pain to install working blind behind the engine but that's VW work. Problem is, this part EXPLODED as I was driving across the desert on the hottest day of summer 2021. Literally, the entire side blew out. Towed back home, immediately bought an aluminum version of this flange.Dorman makes awesome parts but this one might have been a defect or it just might not be a great place to put a plastic component.

dunno what VW/Audi engineers were thinking when deciding plastic coolant parts were better than aluminum...i suppose it could be that many repairs to coolant system incude incorrect choice of coolant; causing accelerated degrading of aluminum...but; this part employs the O-ring slot that prevents displacement & leaks...just be sure not to over-tighten one or both studs; and this part will perform as engineered.

These are a great replacement part that fixes a common failure on VW 1.8T motors. Be sure to source the additional 2 o-rings that are not included in the kit. You will need one for the coolant pipe and one for the coolant hose as well. Additionally, ordering the plastic retaining clip is a good idea because it is usually a dealer item and easy to break.

Worked great and completely eliminated my coolant leak. Fits right where it should. Might be nice if they provided new bolts and ALL o-rings with it. The only o-ring provided is the one that goes against the head, none of the hose o-rings are included. But oh well.
