Hold the cracker with the egg inside and the metal cutters opposite your stomach. Press them in and keep them pressed in. Open the cracker 30 deg and let the egg drain for 3 sec. Then hold over garbage and open the rest of the way and let go of the cutters.

I thought this would take the shells off but it cracks the egg shell in the middle in small pieces making it now harder to remove the shell and now you need to pick out the tiny pieces imbedded in egg

This simple device works pretty well. Keeps shell fragments out of my pan. The little metal hinge pin did eventually fall out but I replaced it with a round wooden toothpick that I cut to size and forced through the plastic hinge openings and it now remains in the hinge snugly and more securely than the original metal pin did.

Overall, this little gadget is great. I chew my nails pretty badly, so I often have bandaids on my fingers. Cracking eggs normally I often get eggs on my bandaids causing me to have to replace them quicker.I've gone through a couple hundred eggs with this product and haven't smashed one yet. It cracks them very well.A few small downsides. Once in a while I get a small chip or two of eggshell in the pan, but that happens cracking eggs normally, it just means it's not flawless. Secondly, it's not great of you want to keep the yolk intact. The way the metal bit pierce the shell they often also pierce the yolk. I've tried holding the product in different orientations and try to not pierce the shell as much, but it doesn't usually help or work. Lastly, it's not the easiest to clean. The ridges on the inside to the support the egg make it almost impossible to scrub. I have to use a bristled scrubber to get into the crevices.Other than that, great helpful product.

My Nephew (age 18) can not crack open an egg without shells going everywhere. I use to crack open his eggs for him each night so he could cook his breakfast in the morning. Since I bought this, he can now crack open his own eggs and in 3 months every egg has cracked perfectly. I am going to buy an extra one to have in case the dishwasher doesn’t get turned on. So simple but works great.
