I bought this to explain gears to my kids. It was fun for them and they understood the material. The pieces are easy to use and seem to be durable

Wow these are great! I havent had luck in the past with a good thick gear set that could take the "abuse" of easy every day play by little boys. I was also concerned because I have a baby crawling around about choking hazards.Well, this gear set is wonderful! Its made of a thicker plastic that's small prongs don't snap if barely bent (like other gears we have previously owned). We have only had them a few days, and my boys have played with them non stop. The only small small peices (that would be a choking hazard) are the purple connectors, but my baby seems to understand not to put them in her mouth. The only con/ pro is that the peices are relatively snug together. Not hard for my 7 year old to pull apart, but my 3 year old has some difficulty. The gears have been very good quality. Even their box is of quality. No weak plastic here.I reccomend this toy whole heartedly and it will last a long time

My 5 year old & 10 year old both like to create with this! The directions are impossible to follow if you are trying to create from the book. You cannot tell exactly which holes to,place pieces in. But for just creating their own things, it is great!

I got this for my 5 yr old as one of his Xmas gifts. I'm all for fun toys that help little minds grow.He loves it; he's constantly building things and gets excited when he learns/ figures something new out. I love it because he's entertained, challenged, and it comes in a sturdy box he knows he puts everything back in. I'm about to order another one for my nephew who has ADHD since he seems to like it as well.

Product review below, but first a review of ETI Toys: My Lil Engineer Construction kit arrived with a few cracks in the storage container that kept it from closing. I checked that all of the pieces were present and sent ETI a message asking if I could get just a replacement storage container. Much to my surprise, they RUSHED an ENTIRE new set to me in pristine condition. (They must have rightly assumed it was to be a child's Christmas gift.)The bulk of my just-turned-four-years-old son's Christmas presents were the ETI lineup, and we couldn't be more pleased. These are truly unique and high quality toys that obviously had a lot of thought put into them. The just-turned-eight-years-old boy also enjoys them, and I know their little sister (currently a few months old) likewise will when she is old enough to play with them.I would HIGHLY recommend this company's products to anyone. This is superior to Learning Resources Gears for two main reasons: (1) the chain adds SO much more educational play value and (2) the connectors are MUCH easier to assemble and disassemble. You won't be disappointed.
