About Gabriel

Starting in 1907, Gabriel invented the original shock absorber, followed by the first hydraulic shock absorber, the first adjustable shock absorber and the first air adjustable shock absorber. And today, it's still that same innovative, independent American company--building high-performance shocks and struts that cover over 96% of North American vehicles. Gabriel continues adding new product coverage, including expanding their line of ReadyMount strut assemblies, which make installation faster, safer and easier. And Gabriel continues that independent spirit, working hard to deliver innovative new products and services, every day.

I installed them about a month ago. The back of the vehicle sits a couple of inches lower now, but It was too high before, anyway. The ride is good. I would buy them again. I watched some YouTube videos first. I didn't have to jack anything up. Basically, unbolted and removed the old ones one at a time and installed the new ones as I went. It only requires a couple of large deep sockets and a couple of big wrenches. Took about an hour and a half, but I purposely work slowly.

This shock is for light duty suv and not for a heavy duty truck

Front shocks weren't as stiff as I thought it would be. But still a great purchase!

They work well to keep the toy/ranch truck running and to reduce wear on front end parts. They are not bilstein's, so keep that in mind if it's your everyday driver.

Replaced original shocks on 98 S-10 with these. The old shocks I took off had more damping. These are NOT gas charged. I would not recommend. Spend a few dollars more and get a real shock absorber.

Going way back, back in 2003, I installed my first pair of LTV shocks on the front of my '97 Ford F250HD. Until that time I suffered every time I pulled a heavy trailer; nose of the truck bobbed up and down. Really rough at night! But the LTV was not my first attempt at solving this. First I tried Monroe Gas-Magnum's---those were worse than stock...scary worse. I can't recall why I settled on the LTV but I was hesitant about using a non-gas charged shock. What a difference! The LTVs offer a solid, controlled ride, loaded or not. I've been on some nasty roads with no fade so I've now come to realize that gas really isn't needed for this application. After 10 years they have begun to seep a bit. Though still working fine, it's time to get fresh ones in. I hope I wont need to touch them until 2023 or so; and then, if they are still made, I'll buy another pair of Gabriel LTVs.

I bought a used 02 Yukon XL (130,000 mi) with what looked like original shocks. The Gabriel 58803 LTV - Commercial turned out to be a good combination of value and performance. They are a little larger diameter than the old shocks and smoothed out my ride very noticeably. I installed them very easily without problems though the stud on top is shorter than original.I also bought the rear Gabriel LTV - Commercial shocks (maybe not so good) they are noticeably smaller diameter than original but seem to work fine, time will tell.
