The thing about "universal" typewriter ribbons is that none of them are truly universal. Typewriters have so many different designs over the years that you can't possibly design a plastic spool that works in each and every one. However, the concepts are so similar that you can usually make them work. I had to file off a couple of plastic prongs on these spools, but once I did I got them working in my old Olympia. The ribbon is well-inked and works really well with a manual typewriter. That's more than I can say for some others that I have purchased, which were very faint. I'll have enough of these to use for a decade, I think!

I have a small accounting firm and we have around 8 10-key adding machines. We always run tapes.The ribbons I normally buy cost about as much for ONE as this package of a dozen costs. The accountant in me says that's a no brainer!They installed the same way as the OEM ribbon does.The one downside is that these ribbons are not quite as dark as I'm used to for a fresh ribbon. They are still much more darker than a well-used ribbon. I took pictures of what a tape looked like before changing the ribbon and after with one of these. As you can see, it's very readable with these ribbons.I won't know for a while if these last as long. I'll update my review if they give out prematurely.

I'm an accountant and we tend to go through a lot of ink ribbons so it was nice to find a products that was comparable to DataProducts without the DataProducts price.You're still going to get a bit of the ink from the ribbon when you replace it, nature of the beast, but my fingers came clean with a wipe. They don't have a funky chemical smell. And best yet, they are individually packed in plastic and a box so you can toss a backup in your desk drawer and it's there when you need it.
