I did not read the "Note" at the bottom of the item description and ordered without knowing it will not work if your camera has a battery grip. That's on me. That said, the small pin that fits in the hole in the camera lens foot mount does nothing to hold the two pieces together other than preventing the camera and lens from rotating separate from one another. I ground the pin off and it allows the foot to mount without hitting the camera battery grip. The four small rubber pads on the foot provide a great deal of grip and secures the two pieces to each other. I found the fit to be very tight. If you wanted you could also add a tiny drop of adhesive to each rubber pad for additional grip. One thing that should be included is a mounting screw that is a tiny bit longer.

I will say the price was good and shipping was fairly fast. The plate itself was somewhat well made. But, it was made incorrectly. In the product picture it shows the alignment pin at forward part of the foot as it should be. Well, the one I was sent wasn't. The pin was on the back side of the foot. If I attached the foot to my lens the long part of the plate would have been under my camera. Since I use a battery grip, there is no way to attach the foot. They need to check there QC standards.

I bought this specifically because it mounted in the illustrations with the open end of the foot facing the camera. With this lens in the extended position that would give the best point of balance on a tripod head. The product shipped to me had the pin on the mounting surface in the opposite position to what was illustrated and so the open end of the foot faces AWAY from the camera hence shifting the point of balance much further forward so balance on a tripod is impossible. I have kept it as the foot position does protect against accidental manual focus ring movement. It is well enough made but not as illustrated.
