Function and principle of oil pressure sensor switch
The function of the oil switch:
Multiple systems in automobiles are designed to maintain normal engine oil level and pressure. The oil pressure sensor is directly connected to the oil pressure gauge. When a lower than normal oil pressure is detected, the oil pressure gauge will reflect this change. The oil pressure warning light is usually accompanied by a failure of the oil pressure sensor.
Principle of oil sensor:
1. Oil pressure from the main oil gallery.
2. The oil pressure switch senses oil pressure.
3. Information passes through the warning light.
4. The final contact link to the ignition switch.

Had a code for oil pressure, replaced this along with the oil filter gasket housing that mounts to the engine. Code gone, no more oil leak either.

I purchased this unit along with a socket designed to be used specifically with sending unit switches.The socket did not fit the switch and upon closer inspection it looked like someone tried to file the flats on the switch to make it smaller which leads me to believe the switch is not the right size to begin withI returned both the switch and the socket and purchased OEM parts

I saved a couple of hundred dollars by replacing it myself. The only challenge is trusting Amazon to whether it will fit your car or not. Until you remove the part first and then make sure you order the same exact part, you won't know. I ordered another oil pressure sensor and it did not fit my car as confirmed.I am very happy this one worked perfectly.
