I have used this neck cradle less than five times!!!!! The wood cradle is not the problem. It is the hardware that is used to secure it. The nylon straps have holes punched in them for the buckle to catch but the long metal piece is not long enough. The nylon strap holes are not re-inforced but simply just punched in the nylon. Poor quality. I've now had to spend another $20 on supplies to redo the strapping so that this product will not be a safety issue for my horse. Just imagine this getting caught on something and you not being there to observe it happen.

I actually had to send it back because it was a bit large for our medium size pony, but the quality was first rate and for horses it would be great.

This item works in keeping my mule from scratching a sore on his neck on the posts and scratching with his back hoof which kept the sore from healing. Also, fast shipping was appreciated.

Did not work very well on my husband's horse even tho he cut it down. Dangerous to leave on horse overnight.

I wish I had ordered this sooner. My horse has a hip wound he wouldn't leave alone. This has been so helpful in allowing it to heal. I chose two day shipping and it arrived on time, well packaged. I looked at other tack stores and this item was on back order. I'm grateful it was in stock here on Amazon.I have a short-but-thick necked Percheron/QH gelding. It's almost buckled on the smallest holes. It fits him well from chest to throat but seems large around his neck. Well made, he hasn't destroyed it yet and he destroys most things (blankets, toys, stalls) almost immediately!

We had a horse that kept chewing on an area that the vet had to do surgery on and this neck cradle was the only thing that could stop him from getting his head around to the area. The cradle has longer dowels on both sides and shorter dowels under the neck. It is made this way so that the horse can still lower head and graze without interference from the neck cradle and yet with the longer dowels on the side keeps him from turning his head to either side. Straps over the neck are adjustable. It is made of light weight smooth wooden dowels with little wooden beads between.
