This longer tone bar is perfect for my larger hands. The original size feels small, but this one is perfect for my resonator guitar needs.

For my hand the top should be a bit wider and the overall length should be up to 1/2" longer. It's a well made tone bar but i'll need to modify it to fit my hand for a great fit.

Dunlop 927 Long Dawg Tone BarTone bars are used play lap steel guitars, pedal steel guitars, Dobroes and Hawaiian style guitars with a high action, often tuned to an open chord. They are designed for use on a guitar that is held horizontally, on your lap, on a table, or at your waist with a strap. To use a tone bar, hold it firmly and slide it up and down the strings while you pluck or pick the strings near the bridge with your other hand. With practice you can perform gliding glissando notes, notes between frets, slant chords with the tone bar at an angle, hammer-ons, and pull-offs.I compared Dunlop RR1, SP2, Long Dawg, and Ernie Ball M bullet tone bars for this review. Test guitars included a 2021 Martin 00-15M acoustic with a custom bone nut and bridge, a 1970 Lotus F215 acoustic, and a 2011 Gretsch G5715 Electromatic Lap Steel guitar. All guitars were strung with Dunlop extra-light strings.DESCRIPTION: The Dunlop 927 Long Dawg tone bar is a rounded tone bar with straight ends and an integrated grooved metal handle that will accommodate two or three fingers or can be held between finger and thumb. It weighs 5.6 oz, it is 0.75 inch wide and it is 3.1 in from end to end — the straight edges allow you to use the full length of the bar in contact with the strings.Unlike similar looking Dunlop tone bars that are made of polished stainless steel, the Long Dawg is made of heavily chromed brass. The plating was incomplete on the corners which made them sharp to the fingers. There were a few pinpoint irregularities in the chrome finish on the handle that did not affect appearance, feel, use, or sound. Its price is slightly higher than other Dunlop tone bars. The package said made in China.COMPARISON: This bar has a longer string contact area than the Dunlop SP2, the Dunlop RR1, or the Ernie Ball Medium. It is narrower than the EBM, the same width as the Dunlop SP2, and wider than the RR1. It weighs more than the Dunlop RR1, the same as the Dunlop SP2, and less than the Ernie Ball Medium.SOUND: The midrange and low notes sound smooth and full of harmonics while the highs are clear and bright, but not quite as bright as with the polished stainless steel Dunlop tone bars.HELPFUL HINT: This is my favorite tone bar so far. The midrange and low notes sound deep, dark, and smooth at the cost of a little less twang. I love the sound.

Perfect slide for a lap steel with more than 6 strings. My favorite slide on my 7 string lap steel guitars.

Works well but is a little bit heavy for dads hands. This size and shape works well for him, just needs to be a little lighter to be a 5

Was using a bullet-type bar but this is much nicer to use. Not as heavy as the bar I was using, easier to hang onto, I think more accurate for single-string moves. Very nice. Have a nice day.

This steel is ideal. I had a regular Stevens for years and never thought it inadequate, but after looking around, I found there were improvements, plus I had graduated up from a 6 string to an 8 string. I first tried the Lap Dawg, and really liked the feel and shape and weight of it. Then I saw the Long Dawg, and fell in love. I ordered it immediately. It's all the Lap Dawg is, but slightly longer. It fits just across all 8 strings on my steel, but I move it around anyway to focus on what area of the strings I'm concentrating on. It works smoothly, fits perfectly in my hand with the little groove on top and slides effortlessly. 10 stars.

This is the 4th tone bar I have purchased and I think I finally found one that has the right combination of features. My first tone bar was the Shubb GS with a stainless bar and wooden handle. This bar is pretty good, but the curved wooden surface felt awkward when trying to perform slants. My second tone bar was the Dunlop Lap Dawg 926. I loved the feel of this bar, but the length was too short. It just barely fit across all the strings on the neck of my Dobro. I ended up returning that bar in exchange for a Shubb SP3 which was slightly longer. The SP3 is an acceptable bar, but not quite long enough for my fingers. When I found out that Dunlop made a longer version of the Lap Dawg called the Long Dawg, I ordered it immediately. It is a great bar. It has the perfect weight and length for my hand. The machine work and plating is impeccable. It's also made in the USA. Of the 4 tone bars I've owned, here's my ranking of personal favorite to least favorite:1. Dunlop Long Dawg (927)2. Shubb GS3. Shubb-Pearse SP34. Dunlop Lap Dawg (926)Why was the Long Dawg my favorite of the four mentioned?1. The Length - 3.1" - Perfect for full bar chords and fit the length of my fingers.2. The feel. - The side and top indentations are perfect. They don't fatigue your hand.3. The design. - The radius of curvature of the bar makes it fairly forgiving for getting good intonation. Also, the ends of the bar have a nice crisp edge that make pull offs very easy to execute.4. The weight. - At 5.6 oz, it's just heavy enough to keep from getting annoying string buzz, but light enough that it's not tiresome to hold.I only wish that Dunlop would offer this exact tone bar in Stainless Steel!

Beautifully made and works extremely well. Well worth the money to get a quality bar for beginner or experienced lap slide players

It is a good Tone Bar but is plaged by four sharp corners .If these were rounded it would be great.
