great for when you need light in a pinch. very portable. even comes with some color filters which are really cool. nice and bright and definitely gets the job done. takes 6 AA batteries and also takes those lithium batteries which I was not aware of until I saw the spot where the battery sits underneath where the AA's sit! I was so excited to see that. great all around light

The light is SUPERRRR bright. I've used this in my dance videos even at night BUT I wish the filters popped more on the light. The blue filter is the only one that shows a significant difference on and off camera. Of course once your done using it you can always edit your video to brighten up the light. I HATEEEEEE the back piece it doesn't even protect the battery AT! I don't see the purpose of the back piece if it isn't going to protect the batteries inside of it. I duck taped the back to protect my battery since it fell out SO manyyyy times. I would suggest to keep your light tilted forward to keep the batteries from falling out. I'm giving it three stars for the back piece. Its stupid it doesn't serve a purpose to be honest.

Incredibly bright and an amazing value. Only issue I found is with the lack of instructions to a degree, mainly that it does not tell me which rechargeable battery it can use but with 6 AA's it shines insanely bright and in no way shape or form can I complain.

Such a handy little light. Yes, it's not the most perfect light ever, but until you can afford that light, this gets the job done. I love the filters too, it helps the light look a little more natural (particularly yellow, white, and pink). A lot of people who had reviewed this didn't understand why the back had an opening in it, like the batteries might fall out. Well, if you pick up a you're going to need that opening because the battery is fat.The light is adjustable, so you can move it while mounted to the camera to the angle that you need. I'm quite happy with it considering its price and capabilities. Plus it's not heavy, so if you're in a situation where you want a light but don't want to lug around big expensive ones, this one does the trick.

A piece of crap. It came with no battery, the batter I bought falls out. The neck that connect to your camera and the light source broke on the first use. I could have lost everything. Trying to buy a better ball joint. The one it comes with is in the trash.

This is a really handy little light. The price is right. I have an old camcorder, and the batteries for it fit and work fine in this light.http://www.amazon.com/Maximalpower-SON-NP-F550-InfoLithium-CCD-TR516/dp/B001FA0B2Q/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1435465921&sr=8-1&keywords=sony+np-f330+infolithium+battery&refinements=p_85%3A2470955011I use the light with a small Panasonic video camera in conjunction with this:http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GG3GNFG?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00These two devices really changed how I use my video camera.

Great overall. Can be dimmed. Lights up whole backyard at night (e.g. 30' x 50')! I'd give it a 4.5 stars if I could. This light will accept many different kinds of rechargeable batteries, but I used AAs and they lasted for a long time. (Yes, it'll take non-rechargeable AAs, too.) Jason Lanier (a pro photographer) specifically recommends that one who is new to the use of lights or strobe-type flashes use an LED light first to learn how light falls on a subject before buying a strobe-type flash. Why not 5 stars?1. There is too much room between each AA battery and the AA battery next to it so they aren't as securely positioned as possible.2. At this price range it's reasonable that it's not weather sealed. However, it'd be nice if the battery cover would at least enclose all of the batteries so they couldn't be seen or affected by flying dirt or dust.3. The gels (i.e. color panels that you put in front of the lights) should snap and lock into place so that they don't fall out even if the light is on its side (e.g. while taking portrait, strange angle, or upside down photos).4. A wider (compared to the one that's included) angle diffuser is needed. The clear diffuser is not very effective under about 15 feet.5. It'd be nice if the ball on which it pivots could go to 90 degrees. Also, it'd be nice if one could attach it on its wide (for "landscape" photos) or short (for "portrait" photos) sides. It only attaches in the middle of one of the wide sides.6. Since you're sure to use it off-camera too it'd be nice if it had a strap or handle for holding it.7. A carrying case (for a few extra bucks) would be a nice option. You can't even put it back in the cardboard box in which it comes with both the mounting ball and AA batteries installed in it; You have to choose one or the other. That means you'll have to either (A) remove and reinstall the batteries each time you want to take it out of the box or (B) keep the mounting ball separate. Likely you'll choose option (B). But that's annoying if you'll be storing it and unboxing it frequently. The exposed LEDs make it feel less sturdy than a strobe-type flash so you'll probably want to keep it in a box when you're not using it.One request: If you have seen any videos with suggestions about how to use this type of light for still photography (e.g. on YouTube) I'd love for you to include a comment with their URLs. I found that I was blinding my subjects with it while I was focusing or framing the photo so in my photos the subject is often squinting! ¦ )

I got this for my car youtube channel (it's dark under cars and in wheel wells). It did that perfectly. The brightness is adjustable. I do a lot of other recording to and this works wonders...i have recording lights at my school that cost upwards of $1400 dollars each....and two of these work as well as or better than one of those a a tiny fraction of the price. This isnt good for the price...its good plane stop
