These ACNOYEL Roof Ladder Extension Hooks for the Roof Ridge have built in wheels to help push the ladder up along the roof and then up high enough flipping over the ladder so that the padded hooks can grab over the roof ridge. This keeps the ladder from sliding down the roof and provides you with a sturdy way to access a steep roof. The kit comes with Tie-Wraps - 2 Pcs and Gloves. I do wish that there was a bit more secure way to attach the extension other than tie wraps. The system will work as designed however a more secure design might have included u-bolts instead of tie wraps. Overall this kit is working well for my steep metal roof and provides me with more secure footing when working on my roof.

I've been looking at ladder stabilizers for a while, and this appears to be a good one. It's very well constructed out of heavy tubing, and appears to be a powder coated finish that's quite solid. It does take some effort to get it set up and installed on your ladder, but I suspect that is the case with all of these. I use it on a folding ladder, and once it's set up the top of the ladder is very stable and does a good job of keeping the ladder and me off of things like gutters that could possibly be damaged. It's heavy, so it does add some weight to the top of the ladder, but it definitely makes getting on the roof a lot easier and safer for me.

The old saying “Safety First” is not to be taken lightly, especially as I grow older. I do not get on a ladder often, but when I do it requires numerous adjustments to the ladder to safely stabilize it due to the inherent narrowness of the ladder and the uneven ground of my yard. That is why I ordered this stabilizer. I wanted to work more quickly and at the same time work safely. This ladder stabilizer does accomplish both of those needs. The added width that the stabilizer arms provide greatly improved the tendency of the ladder to twist from side to side as I climbed or descended it if the ground was not perfectly level or was soft. Also, the 12” offset the stabilizer provides from the house (see picture) or roof, make the job at hand (painting, hanging Christmas lights, stepping onto the roof, etc.) much easier. The steel the stabilizer is made of is heavy duty as advertised, almost too heavy. The weight, while not overly excessive, adds a significant amount of torque to the end of the ladder when lifting it into place alongside a wall or the roof. This is not a deal breaker, though it is something to be aware of because losing control of the ladder while lifting it up can cause physical harm as well as property damage. Perhaps if it were made of aluminum, like the ladder itself, it could be made less weighty yet hefty enough to be used safely. The rubber feet definitely gripped the roof and the siding, preventing slipping and sliding, and they do protect the surfaces they are touching from being scratched or crushed, but they also scuffed the surface of the siding, leaving a black mark. (See picture). That may or may not be a permanent problem. The assembly instructions included are minimal at best and difficult to see as they resemble a faded photocopy. The hardware, the bolts and nuts that come with the stabilizer, are adequate to hold the stabilizer together and to attach it safely to the ladder. However, I do not like the wingnuts. A wrench still must be used to tighten them because finger tightening is not sufficient to be safe. I will be replacing them with regular nuts that I can use with a ratchet wrench. The hardware kit does include enough washers (which are not shown on the instructions) to use with the wingnuts, but it would have been nice to have enough washers to use under the bolt heads as well. As it is the bolt heads scratch the painted surfaces they come in contact with when they are being tightened. Also, the U-bolts, being 4” long, could be shortened to 3-1/2” or perhaps even 3” and still be long enough to attach the stabilizer to my ladder. As it is the U-bolts stick out to the point that they could possibly catch on clothing or skin.I also discovered that in order for this stabilizer to be attached to my extension ladder (a 22’ Keller) per the instructions it needs to be extended a minimum of two steps. This extra length to the ladder causes the already significant torque to noticeably increase in order to lift the ladder in place. That said, I can safely attach the stabilizer to the ladder extended one step (see pictures), but I had to place the frame of the stabilizer between two rungs at an angle rather than flat. (Again, see picture).Generally speaking, I am satisfied with this ladder stabilizer, but the issues I mentioned above reduce its overall ease of use – at least with an extension ladder. I think there is definite room for improvement. The price at the time I ordered it was $49.99; today it is priced at $39.99. That makes it more reasonable, but it still does not address what I believe are its shortcomings.

I used this on my Werner ladder (very similar to the Lil Giant). It works great, provides nice stability, and allows access to roof without crushing the gutters. However, the instructions are pathetic. Only poor quality pictures. There are washers included, but not listed on the parts list nor shown on the pictures. Fortunately, the assembly is pretty simple, so it wasn't much of an issue. They included a small wrench for the bolts. A nice touch, but it is much easier if you have a socket wrench available. Since this isn't something that you can leave on the ladder all the time, it would have been nice if they could have made a lever type clamp in-place of the u-bolts for attachment to the ladder so that it could be installed and removed more easily.

This is a sturdy and useful necessity for anyone who uses ladders. It comes unassembled and takes 20 minutes or so to put together with the included hardware packet. It even includes a cheap but usable stamped steel 14 mm wrench to hold the bolts while the wing nuts are snugged down. The kit fortunately comes with washers to put under the wingnuts despite not being mentioned in the parts list or shown on the assembly instructions.I attached it to my Franklin ladder (Harbor Freight version of Little Giant). It's a bit cumbersome to apply and clamp on but once attached is sturdy and secure. It would be an easier application with an old-fashioned extension ladder. The stabilizer was solid and did stabilize my 225 lb body on the ladder. It allows stand-off ladder positioning so as to avoid leaning on unstable and relatively delicate gutters. It does add a few pounds to an already hefty ladder, but this is not something you want bending or slipping. There are 2 rubber pads to cushion the device against the wall. They curiously do not sit flat against the surface but at a slight angle. These rubber pads are obviously the weakest point of the system and ideally replacements would be readily available. I do not see this on the Amazon page.In summary, a good to great product with a couple of blemishes that will not keep me from using it whenever I'm up on the ladder.
