I got this pan to help out with holiday cooking. So far so good. Easily the heaviest baking dish I have.

This attractively designed open baking pan appears well-made. It is entirely cast iron with an enamel coating on the interior surface only. The inside measurement is approximately 12” L x 8 ½” W x 2 ½” D. The pan heats evenly and washes well. My only issue with this item is its weight. The pan alone weighs over 9 pounds. I shudder to think how much it would weigh loaded with something like lasagna or a roasting chicken. As a slightly built woman of a certain age, this pan is just too cumbersome to be practical for me. If you have a greater tolerance for hefty cookware, I think you’d be happy with this pan.

The pan is quite heavy given that the exterior is cast iron and not much different than if you are using a Lodge cast iron pan. If you can't easily lift 10-15 pounds, then you either shouldn't buy or get a kitchen helper. The inside of the pan is enameled, and you should avoid any utensils that aren't silicone or wood, otherwise, the finish will get ruined. While my first use was lasagna which turned out fine, you can't use a metal knife to cut it into pieces. Scoopable menu items like a casserole or bread pudding avoid the need for a knife and a plastic ladle can do the trick.Cleanup was easy and there are instructions on how to tackle crusty food and hard stains. The pan looks great going from the oven to the table for a meal.

The quality of this pan is nothing short but amazing! The pan has a lot of weight to it which I love! You don't have to just cook lasagna in this. We use this to cook all our meals that go in the oven. Tri tip is our favorite! It's very easy to clean too! The craftsmanship is absolutely gorgeous! This pan will last us a long time. I cannot recommend this pan enough! Highly highly recommend!

Nice quality piece. I made eggplant lasagna and it cooked and cleaned up beautifully. That being said, I’m not sure I would use this on a regular basis, due to the weight. It’s cast iron, so I figured it would be heavy…it’s crazy heavy! It would probably be an issue for people with diminished strength. I will use it around the holidays when I need more baking dishes. I’m sure foodies would use it every single day. It really is that nice, but I know I will grab my old ceramic one. No stars off because it is a quality piece and I’m just lazy!

After 500 degrees of Gluten Free pizza cooked evenly, removed cleanly from the pan, and was crispy perfection I am ready to give a shining review.Disclaimer: If you are a fan of the YouTube cooking show "Binging with Babish" you will recognize this product as one of Andrew's. If not be aware it comes with branding. This may make it less desirable to some. The shipping ensconces this pan in Styrofoam on all sides within a box. It arrived in pristine condition. The box bares labeling identifying what is inside. Something to keep in mind if there are any cast-iron thieves in your vicinity (You're always one step ahead, aren't you?).Out of the box the cast iron exterior and handles appear to have some sort of finish on them that makes them slightly tacky and less likely to rust. The pan itself is coated in ceramic. This provides some good qualities (and some negative). From what I understand the ceramic nature of the pan makes it easier to clean and perhaps a bit non-stick? Probably not as non-stick as a seasoned cast iron, but you don't have to safeguard your seasoning either. It is recommended not to use metal cleaners/utensils on ceramic. It can ruin the finish at the very least. This can be troubling after cooking at the highest recommended temperature (500f), since that will likely burn food to your pan. It did mine and when I (foolishly) resorted to chainmail to scrape it off I was left with marks on my pan.The pan heats beautifully and retains that heat. It spreads it and radiates it. What I'm trying to say is it makes great deep dish pizza. An easy recommendation for the Babish fan and only slightly less so for the layman. A fine pan!

Enameled cast iron pans are a great way to make dishes like lasagna and casseroles, as they heat evenly and are easy to clean up (giving them a quick spray with Pam before using works well). We got this after Christmas, when my wife had made her lasagna, so we tested the pan by using it to make baked ziti.First, I washed the pan in soap and water with a dish sponge, as it says to do. Then, we sprayed it with pam, added the ziti, ricotta, and sauce, mozzarella, meat, etc, and baked it until it was done. It baked everything very nicely, and the top came out perfectly browned. We left it in the pan and served it from there. The pan kept the dish hot for a while (be careful NOT to touch it, as iron keeps heat a long time). To clean, I just sprayed it with hot water form the tap, used a plastic brush to loosen anything on it, then followed up with a dobie sponge with dish soap. It came out clean with minimal work. This is cheaper than the French branded cast iron pans and to me, the quality is just as good. It bakes a nice dish and with proper care, should last forever.

I was even more excited to see the pan once I saw the care with which it had been packaged and shipped. From the outside in, there was a sturdy cardboard outer box, an inner casing of styrofoam, a sturdy cardboard inner box and then plastic around the pan itself. This pan arrived in pristine condition due to the care in packaging. The pan itself is absolutely gorgeous. It is a hefty, true cast iron pan with a flawless enamel on the interior. My husband, who hates everything, is in love with this pan. We are already planning to buy more from this company.
