This is a set of 4 fine mesh fly boots that I got for my mom and for her horse. They fit him well with strong Velcro along the length of the fly boot. They do a good job of keeping flies and other biting bugs off of his lower legs. They mostly stay in place, are breathable, but hold onto dirt and dust very easily, however, they're also easily cleaned with the barn hose. He wore them for a few warm months and their quality held up except the Velcro also attracts every piece of hair and dust flying around the barn and paddocks.

The first thing to know about these fly boots is they are not the typical stiff mesh that is open on the top. Since many flies that pester horses tend to cluster around the lower extremities, the stiff open type are often effective. It is possible to get in there however, as well as other insects, or debris like hay. These fly boots have Set a top and bottom, lined with a very soft fleece. Unlike with traditional fly boots, critters or debris are effectively prevented from entering. The mesh is very fine, and stands well away from the leg which should keep most insect irritation from happening. They are also fairly soft, and should overall seem more comfortable than most of the stiff kind. The construction is robust feeling, and the fleece is thick enough to provide some comfort in contact with the horse.

These will accommodate a smaller or larger horse because of the design. Also, they keep debris out with the elastic top and bottom plus have a felt piping for comfort. The velcro is strong, and the netting is very breathable - great for hot, hot summer months. They do stay up fairly well. In other words, a little slouching, but it isn't enough to worry about or require constant adjustments.Anyhow, my horses range from 14.2 hh to 15.2 hh with small to larger bone mass, and these work for either.Pretty durable to last a full summer easily!!

I was skeptical about "loose fitting" fly boots because I've always used fitted ones, but these actually work well. They fit like slouch socks, so there is some exposure of the leg just below the knee. The mesh is soft and won't chafe your horse's legs. There are several colors available - I chose the violet and it's very pretty.

These fly boots stay up and provide excellent protection. They are a different lightweight material than my usual fly boots. With simple Velcro I can easily put them on and take them off. They fit well without bothering my older gelding.

These are pretty nice. They have a soft binding at the top and bottom so they won't irritate the leg. The Velcro is thick and strong and the mesh is also pretty sturdy. However, it doesn't have a plastic stay in it like some other brands, so if your horse is messing with it they can pull it up, pull it down, or bunch it up. Not my favorite but perfectly suitable.

I think I like these fly boots better than the ones that are open at the upper end, because these don't trap as much chaff. They do slump a little, especially if the horse rubs on them; I wish they had more stiffening to keep them up. I would also like a "bell boot-like" flare of mesh from the bottom elastic over the coronary band, as my horse is also bothered by insects at the back of his pasterns where these boots do not cover. The boots are decently made with a fairly fine mesh and do a good job of excluding most insects. Easy to apply and remove. Have not yet tried to wash them.
