It's portable, yes. But it is very limited. It will show the depth of the water, and the bottom structure, but it tends to detect fish that aren't present, and doesn't detect fish you can see with your own eyes. When it does detect fish, they always move from right to left on the screen and where they are in the water column But, it does tell you water depth and bottom structure. For finding fish, I've not found it to be reliable.

They work twice and then quit. Screen locked up and shows 1.9 m depth. Save your money. You’d be better off just jumping in the lake looking at depth yourself

My boyfriend loves fishing. He gets very frustrated when he goes out for a whole day and comes back home with no fish. I'm preparing him this little surprise for Valentine's Day. Bought this bc I had a long line of bad luck (or skill) fishing. It showed me fish where I knew there was fish, just trying to accurately find them below with this was tricky but I knew they were there.

Although I have only been able to use the product once so far, I am very happy with its performance especially considering the price. The quality construction of all parts is better than I had hoped. Easy to set up, easy to use. I can’t speak for the accuracy of the depth to other similar products, as this is my first, however I have measurements on the rope I use for my anchor and had tested several different depths and it was spot on. I use it for my Mariner 4 raft, but this would be a perfect accessory for a kayak/Jon boat as well.

I had a blast with this product. I bought as a toy because I am trying to get myself into outdoor things and for the price it was right up my alley. I thought it was not going to work very well for the price, but boy was I wrong. This product even pick up the tiny fishes, which time was annoying but at least it worked. I spent lots time on our family vacation playing with these device and think I enjoying more then actually fishing lol. Horrible fisher man, but love gadgets. Great device and it was easy to use, highly recommend. Only wish that they had a device that did not let the fish get away but can have everything in life. Enjoy

This product lives up to its claims.The instructions (English) were clear and worth reading before using. They warn against trying to test in ways that may show wrong readings (small pools, next to other devices, etc.).It gave good depth readings (as far as I could tell visually). Reading is only in meters.I was in a lake where there are fish and it located some at varying depths.It shows bottom structure (grass, rocks, etc.) in the form of icons and is accurate.The 25ft cable and transducer work fine. The hard part is keeping the cable from submerging.This is well worth $40. I use an inflatable boat and am very interested in knowing the depth. This works very well for that.As mentioned, it does locate fish and shows them as icons. The initial reading to the far-right shows where they are in the depth column. The fish icons displayed after that (from right to left) are basically a reminder of where they were when located. It’s up to you to attract and catch them at that point.It beeps (which you can turn off) when a fish is located and also as it moves from right to left on screen. It would be better if it only beeped when they’re first located because that gets annoying fast. You’ll want to turn the beeping off but then you’ll find yourself looking at the screen most of the time.Anyone used to or expecting advanced color displays should pass on this and plan to get something else.It’s got a lanyard so you can take it with you when fishing on shore as well.This is a good first device, especially if a more expensive one isn’t in the budget.For what it’s worth, I recommend it as long as you have the right expectations.

This has been great to use with ice fishing! There is a 30’ drop off where I like to fish, and this has been a quick and easy way to find it on the lake, and is very accurate with the depths I’ve fished in. It displays in meters or feet, and easy to switch back and forth if needed. You can also turn on the alert for when it detects fish movement, and that is nice too because helped my daughter know when to pay attention ...she’s 7, so the friendly alert to tell her to stop playing around and get back to fishing is nice. Great product for the price.

My husband like fishing very much. He goes out for fishing every week. However, he was very disappointed when he went out for a whole day but brought back very little fish. It seems that he is playing mouse and cat game with fishes. I hope he will win this game and be happy after fishing with lots of fishes every time. I prepare this little portable fish finder for him as Christmas gift. I hope this small item will help him to find more fishes.I opened the package and checked everything. It is well packed and everything is included in the package just as described. I contact seller and get to know this small fish finder could be working for at least 3-4 hours continuously with brand new batteries. I will buy 4pcs AAA batteries for the portable fish finder, so my husband could use it directly. The seller is very helpful and nice, she reminds me to keep it away from the water, because the display will be damaged once the water splashed. Anyway, I am very happy with this shopping experience.
