Threads in the pullerwere a bit rough but with some grease it worked flawlessly to remove the carrier from my 2006 mercury 225 optimax.

A lot of reviews said that they needed to modify their puller to use it. I just used it on my mercruiser alpha one drive without having to do anything. I set synthetic shims on it to help it keep centered and it pulled the carrier bearing in about 3 minutes. Totally worth it.

Works just fine with Alpha One Gen 2 carriers that can be pulled using the outside ring. Looking at the shop manual apparently earlier Alpha 1 gen 2's are supposed to be pulled using areas on the inner diameter of the carrier. Tool should work, but I can't verify. Looks like most of the complaints about this tool is pulling Bravo carriers.

It will do the job. But is just a poor finished tool. Had to amend the 2 arms with grinder or it would not be able to pull bearings

I used this to pull the bearing carrier on a Bravo 1 drive. The arm ends did not fit in behind the carrier and required a fair bit of grinding down before they did. Once that was done the puller worked just fine.
