About this item

  • 【Tailored for Macro Photography】 With flexible 4-axis positioning and 360° rotation, this professional macro focusing rail is designed for quick and accurate camera focus, ideal for macro photography, close ups, and time lapse videos where precise camera movements are crucial
  • 【Double Sliders with Lead Screws】 Two sliders evenly distribute the load. Operated via the lead screws, the camera sliders ensure smooth and precise control without interruptions caused by uneven load distribution. Each slider offers a 100mm effective movement, and a 200mm combined movement when moving in the same direction
  • 【Precise 4-Axis & 4-Way Movement】 Camera can easily and precisely move in four directions, left, right, forward, and backward, for optimal framing and enhanced stability during professional shooting scenarios. The top slider supports 90° swivel in four axes for innovative camera positions. Note: To stabilize the camera, please push down the positioning lock
  • 【Dual Arca Type Quick Release System】 An Arca type quick release plate with 1/4" screw ensures fast and secure camera mounting. The base easily connects to an Arca type tripod head for stable shooting. The bottom 3/8" thread and a 3/8" to 1/4" screw adapter accommodate a wide range of camera stands and tripods not compatible with the Arca Type quick release system
  • 【Robust Aluminum Alloy Construction】 Engineered with tough aluminum alloy, this focusing rail can still firmly support a camera up to 5.5lb (2.5kg). Yet, the 4 way macro rail slider weighs only 1.6lb (745g), portable for outdoor photography and video recording

This Neewer 4 axis macro focusing rail (model ID: GM-MP3 ) was receiver today, May 03, 2025. It came very well packaged and in good shape. I have looked it over very carefully and tested it on one of my tripods, it's very well made and very smooth to use. As a photographer, we all know that taking macro photographs is slow work, but precision focusing is paramount to getting good quality photographs, also, you will need a good sturdy tripod to keep every thing steady. When you see the end results, you should be happy that you invested in this QUALITY macro rail. A remote control would also cut down on shake, just a suggestion. I AM A VERY HAPPY CUSTOMER WITH THIS ITEM!

I would give this 4 maybe even 5 stars if the joint between the two axis were more solid. It really defeats the purpose of having a fine adjustment if there is 1/16"+ of play in the mechanism. If this were $50 I might give it another star as well, but for the price I wouldn't waste your time. You would be better off buying two single axis slides and fixing them together. It would be much more solid. Good idea, but fail in the execution. I will give it a bit more time, but more than likely this will get returned.

Not a bad focusing rail at all. I was a bit worried it would have too much play as another reviewer had issues. So far my rail seems much more precise than I was led to expect. Its entirely possible that I just got very lucky with this particular unit but, so far, its tolorences are absolutely on par with other rails i've used in this price range. Its great for stop motion, time lapse or panorama stuff since you can get some horizontal movement using the second axis. I mainly use it for focus stacking my macro images. I find my tripod introduces more play than the focus rail, especially when its held at a tilted forward angle under the cameras weight. This might also be due to the fact that I'm generally in the woods or standing in some filthy bog with my tripod bearly dug in. My stacks are coming out great and it seems to hold focus well. If I were to rebuy, i'd just stick with the single rail system instead of this two axis style but I'm still glad I get to play around with this version. If I were buying this purley for macro focusing, especially in a professional product photography setting, I'd just get a Novoflex if my budget was significant enough. Its also worth noting that used Novo's can be purchased on ebay for around the price of one of these so keep that in mind if you need something more robust or precise. The main reason i'm not giving it five stars is due to its very low weight limit of 5.5lbs. Normally I wouldn't see this as much of an issue but its annoying limitation that'll prevent me from using my raynox with some of my larger lenses. Its likely an arbitrary limit since it feels pretty robust but it's worth noting that the Sirui focus rail has a 22Lb limit. All in all, I'm happy with this rail, I think it makes for a great addition to my kit. There are better options but it would still be at home in a small studio.

This is a review of the MP3 version. I'm a fan of this macro rail. The movements are small and precise, and the controls are really precise and easy. It is a measure in patience though as the movement is VERY small. On a scale of 1 hundred, one full turn of the wheel barely goes above 1mm (or whatever measurement it is), and going a good distance can be annoying since there's no fast way adjust. Because of that I wish there was a fold out knob that could turn the adjustment into a crank style instead of a twist knob to help with bigger movements and then twist knob for finer movement. What's really awesome with the MP3 version is you can spin both the rails so they face the same direction for storage. It locks at the spine every 90 degrees, and there's 4 total ways you can lock so you can orient the knobs in whatever direction you want. This is really neat and a cool way to both use the device and also store the device so that it takes up less space.I had a Canon 180mm EF macro and a Canon 100mm RF macro on this with mounting on both lens tripod mount and camera and both worked fine. Had it on top of a Sirui carbon fiber tripod with an arca swiss plate on top and the rail was super easy to use. I suggest finding a tripod that has an adjustable center column to help get closer to the height you need since you can really only go x and z axis with this and not y.Reading a few of the other reviews, I tried to emulate the micro jitters that some others had and I couldn't seem to emulate it. As long as the center column was locked I found more movement in the EF to RF converter I was using over the macro rail. Maybe they updated it to fit tighter? I had a very solid experience when it came to stability.**update** sadly I was wrong. The column did get loose and there is movement now. If you are trying to adjust the camera and touch it by accident it can lead to a slight reframe. This was disappointing as the device is quite usable.

This is my first macro focusing rail and o got it to use it with my Sony A77 and 100mm macro lens (combined weight is around 1.2Kg ~ 2lb 11oz). I am still experiencing with it and so far this is what I can say:Pros:1- It is a precision made, solid built product. All metal, no plastic.2- the adjustment knobs are very accurate and smooth, the full rotation translates to 1mm movement.3- the adjustment mechanism is solid, no free movement even in the vertical position.4- it has a detachable QR plate for the camera mount point, and a fixed QR plate in the bottom of the rail.5- The two axis can be independently moved, and the joint is 360" rotatable, with locks at each 90" position.6- the movement range is 50mm each way (4-ways).now here are some cons:1- I had to remove the lock screws from the lower QR plate to be able to mount the rail on the tripod head (Vanguard Alta Pro 100), depending on the tripod head/ mount you have you might not need to do so.2- There is no rapid adjustment mechanism, if such feature was present then this product will be on another level.3- in some scenarios there is a slight wobble between the axis, I recommend using a remote shutter release to handle this (it is always better to use it in macro even without a rail).finally, I have no regrets buying this product and even the cons are minimal easily manageable. I will update the review as I use the mount more.
