These are very nice for level shifting applications - and in general for doing power like stuff with logic like signals. You can get little pcbs for this onto which you solder them, and then you can put dupont headers on that and solder it to a 2.54mm pitch board.

It is what it says on the tin. I've used about 20 of these so far and they've been super consistent, performing to spec. I've been soldering at 350C and it holds up well. Only exception was one with unexpectedly high capacitance on the gate that took seconds to come down even after putting -12V on it, but since that was the only one I'm assuming I damaged it while soldering. If you're looking to switch 12V (like the inexpensive and popular 5050 LED tape) with the 3.3V GPIO pins of a Raspberry Pi, Arduino, or similar SoC units, this is what you want. They have a max Vgs threshold of 1.2V, so 3.3 on the gate fully opens the channel. Look up the adapter boards for SOT-23 surface mount chips that let you put breadboard-friendly headers on these. If you have the above use case, you do NOT want to put a PWM/rapid switching load on the gate of these without a gate resistor. I've seen plenty of online tutorials that omit this. You want two 1kOhm resistors coming from each output pin: one to ground as a pull-down, the other to the gate. With that, you can take each color the full range from off to full brightness without a heat sink, and it'll stay just a couple C above room temp.
