The NH-D9L chromax.black is an all-black version of Noctua’s award-winning NH-D9L compact dual-tower CPU cooler that has been designed to provide excellent quiet cooling performance at a height of only 110mm. Its comparably low profile (15mm lower than classic 9cm tower coolers such as the NH-U9S) doesn’t only ensure full 3U compliance but also makes the NH-D9L ideal for compact mini-ITX and Small Form Factor cases that have airflow paths parallel to the motherboard. Thanks to its 95x95mm footprint, the NH-D9L always clears the RAM and PCIe slots, even on ITX motherboards. The included NF-A9 premium fan supports automatic speed control via PWM for outstanding quietness of operation and a second, optional NF-A9 fan can be added for further improved performance in dual fan mode. Topped off with the trusted, pro-grade SecuFirm2 multi-socket mounting system and Noctua’s proven NT-H1 thermal compound, the NH-D9L forms a highly compact premium package for space-restricted applications.
Low-profile tower design for better airflow efficiency
While most low-profile coolers blow air towards the motherboard, the NH-D9L is a tower style cooler that bows parallel to the mainboard, which allows for superior airflow efficiency in cases with front intake and rear exhaust fans that create an airflow path parallel to the mainboard.
100% RAM compatibility
With its compact 95x95mm footprint, the NH-D9L does not overhang the RAM slots on Intel LGA1851/LGA1700/ LGA1200/LGA115x and AMD AM5/AM4 based motherboards no matter in which orientation it is installed. This ensures easy access to the modules and 100% compatibility with DIMMs that feature tall heat-spreaders or RGB lighting.
100% compatibility with PCIe cards on mini-ITX
Many mini-ITX motherboards have the PCIe slot sitting close to the socket zone. While larger coolers that exceed this zone are likely to block the PCIe slot, the 95x95mm sized NH-D9L provides full compatibility with PCIe cards, be it on ATX, microATX or ITX.
NT-H1 thermal compound

Great cooler for locked CPUs, unsure why there are bad reviews for this. Not only did it fit in a cramped iTX case, but I was able to increase performance in the bios and still shave off about 10-15°c under load.Not much oc room, but for a sub $100 cooler this really gets the job done. There are probably coolers just as good for less, but under 120mm there aren't too many choices. The extras that come with this are well worth the extra $$.

While pairing this cooler with an i7-9700, temps (Celsius) would average in the mid to high 70s and frequently spike well into the high 80s and low 90s. After repasting and trying again, the temps remained the same.I would recommend a cooler like the Noctua NH-U9S. With the same i7-9700 paired with a NH-U9S, CPU temps never reach the 70s.I believe the split heat sink on this cooler causes worse cooling performance when compared to a normal heat sink. With relatively the same price, the NH-U9S is a superior cooler.

As always, Noctua kills it with the easy mounting system and includes both types in the box for you. This thing is silent as can be, and gives great temps easily. You really can't go wrong here! Very sleek with the all black, not a single hardware piece in sight!

In my Fractal Era ITX case, had to replace AIO CPU cooler as new GPU came with 240mm radiator. After rigorous search, found that this is probably only vertical mount option for my small case (and it comes in black!). Works great, seeing similar temps as it was with AIO, maybe 5C higher and temps jump faster than it was with AIO.Second pic is before with CPU 120mm AIO and Hybrid GPU with 120mm rad. Por malas experiencias con refrigeraciones líquidas e optado por utilizar este disipador más compacto. Que su tamaño no los engañe, es perfecto para muchos procesadores de alto rendimiento y si ajustas sus frecuencias y voltajes, nunca tendrás problemas de sobrecalentamiento.Actualmente lo tengo montado junto a un R7 5800X3D y nunca sobrepasa los 80°C en procesos súper exigentes. Para gaming siempre está en torno a las 68°C.

Desde el momento en que lo instalé en mi CPU, noté una diferencia significativa en la temperatura de mi sistema. La calidad de construcción es insuperable, con sus aletas de aluminio negras y el diseño minimalista que le da un aspecto elegante y moderno a mi caja.

Great for low profile case with restrictive mounting. Did notice some cooler temps from my cool master but not much. Decently quiet and easy install for the entry level builder.

Has amazing heat dispersion; I can always feel it getting warm when my PC is on (poking at it is not advised but I'm not advisable!)Installation is a little finicky if it's your first time putting in a cooler, but it's worth the sturdy construction.Comes with a Noctua fan, my guess is 1500 RPM. These fans are very high quality, so you get optimal cooling.It sticks out a few inches, so it is not recommended for micro PC builds. Also not compatible with water cooling unless modified, despite appearances.

Love the lower profile as it fit my Cougar Panzer Max case. However, by itself, it was not quite enough cooling for my 9900x CPU. I had to buy an extra 92mm fan and clip it on. With 2 fans, the CPU temperature is much improved.
