Had these welded on my trailer within minutes of receiving them. They are heavier duty than I've seen on other utility trailers. Very easy to latch and unlatch. Couldn't be happier. At this price I can find many other uses for these as well.

Most latches like these have say they are heavy duty, but really aren't. Their pins aren't even close to 1/2 inch in diameter, and the base metal is quite thin. These latches are stout!! The base metal is .215"-- or roughly 7/32"; the pin is .470" or roughly 15/32". When retracted, the bolt (latching pin) only protrudes .160" which is less than 3/16" This lets you mount it close to the door, gate, etc. and ensures the bolt fully engages. The base is 1.585" wide (approx 1 9/16"), 3" long and 1.375" high (1 3/8").The bolt holes are .235" in diameter (~ 1/4") and 1.775" (~1 25/32") on center in the long dimension, and 1.075" (~1 1/16") center to center in the short dimension. The center of the bolt is ~.835" (27/32") above the bottom surface of the latch.I'm sure these dimensions are metric. If you mount these with 1/4" bolts I recommended you drill out the holes with a 1/4" or slightly larger drill bit.All in all a hefty, robust latch--highly recommended!!

These things are great, I've used a few pair of them as latches for ramps and gates on trailers. They are built relatively sturdy and work smoothly. Spring tension is pretty high so they take a little effort to slide but I like that it keeps things secure even over bumpy roads. The rubber end caps come off somewhat easily so I recommend a dab of super glue, and there are roll pins in the main bolt that act as stops, and one or two of mine wanted to move around a little so I expanded them with a punch, or you could dab them with a little glue or export. For the price, though, they are fantastic. I used to build my own but I can't even get the materials for the cost of these.
