This was a replacement for the same model and ended up also returning it as it too was defective. When a CD was playing, there was an annoying scraping/rubbing sound – not good. And the remote Volume Down button did not change the volume. When a CD was playing, the remote Volume Down button would change the CD track; when FM radio was playing, it changed the radio channel, and when using USB or AUX, it did nothing. Lowering the volume could only be controlled with the volume knob on the main unit. Too bad, the size was perfect for my use. And my Technics turntable worked great using the AUX input coupled with a Pyle Phono Turntable Preamp. Ordered a different brand bookshelf stereo system.

I wanted a small component system for the bedroom that included an aux input, so I can connect it to an old Airport Express for audio streaming. This has a 3.5mm stereo jack, so that fits the bill. The sound is pretty good, the built in equalizer does help a bit for what I listen to. The one problem for this in the bedroom, though, is the backlight for the LCD display (that shows time or function) is really bright. They should have provided a way to turn that light down or off. I'll probably work up some sort of filter to dim the light.

The sound on this unit is fine for my purposes: listening to one radio station exclusively with very occasional CD play. What I couldn't get past is the remote not working correctly. Nine times out of ten when I attempted to adjust the volume, the remote changed the radio station, even when I was very careful to press the volume +/-. I think I was able to save the radio station in memory, but trying to get to the saved station without cycling through all the potential memory slots was not easy or obvious. BTW the instructions for saving a station are poor; you need to hold the memory button during the process, which the manual doesn't bother to say. I just gave up on it. The CD player worked fine for me, but as I mentioned, I don't use that much. It connected to my phone easily via the Bluetooth receiver and played from my phone, but I don't care much about that feature. I had a Bluetooth transmitter already, which I plugged into the headphone jack so I could listen on a Bluetooth speaker, and that worked fine. If you want this system to play CDs, listen to whatever on your phone or other Bluetooth device, and to listen to the radio and don't care about not being able to adjust the volume with the remote, it will probably suit you fine. But I mostly use the remote to adjust the volume, so it didn't work for me. Oh, the plastic in the unit is thin and feels cheap, but maybe that's what you get for $100 these days. I returned it.
