If you are lazy like me but want to protect your koi against toxic water due to insufficient cleaning and filtration, THIS is the cure-all. I have to clean my outdoor filter and and bio filter every 3 to 4 weeks and do not always find the time.Since I started using this product I have not lost a single fish in 6 years. They all made it from 4 inches to 14 inches in perfect health.

Out outdoor water feature has fish, and it's also extensively used by the birds for water. This product effectively gets the chlorine out of the water when we have to refill the pond, which is a 4' galvanized stock tank. We've used it for years, and out fish have shown NO negative effects from it. It is one of those things we just keep around as a standard part of our water feature, and we wouldn't be without it. I recommend!

I knew about Seachem Prime from years ago when I used to have aquariums so when I moved over to pond fish I wondered if there was a pond alterative. Thankfully, there is this Seachem Pond Prime Water Conditioner and I always have some stored safely as part of my pond water maintenance kit. Despite our best efforts to get the delicate balance of water parameters "just right" sometimes there's a change that means there's a spike in Nitrites. I'll do a partial water change (always replacing with rainwater) and will add a dose of Seachem Pond Prime Water Conditioner to help balance things out again. It has never let me down and my fish are thriving! Recently, I had to move my fish into a new pond with a new filter (which had been kickstarted with old filter media from their old pond). The filter wasn't quite up to the full colonisation of friendly bacteria and there was a very minor increase in the nitrite levels. Added a dose of prime, waited for a few hours and re-tested the water. Problem solved and very happy fish. Some rate this stuff (like me), some don't. We all have our different ways of doing things - this works for me so I'll be keeping a supply of this in my kit :)

I buy a special filter for my hose, however, just in case as a back up for when I need to add water to the pond, I keep this around. A few times the filter didn't work correctly and I could smell ammonia. Follow the directions and you will have things back to normal in no time. As you can see my koi are very happy with their pond.

I have used Pond Prime in the past but the current online vendor I use [WWG] does not carry it. Pond Prime has the advantage of "neutralizing" ammonia as well as removing the chlorine and chloramine from tap water. I get ammonia spikes when my koi spawn so I looked online for another source for Pond Prime so I could use a single product to condition the water rather than getting a second one to deal with the ammonia issue. Went with lowest price vendor and when the product arrived it was missing the front label. Uh oh! Is it counterfeit? Anyone who has ever used Pond Prime would immediately recognize the smell: VERY strong sulfur aroma. This definitely had that and it seemed to work - chlorine level stayed at zero after a partial water change and the ammonia went from over 2ppm to .5ppm in 3 days [test reagents measured ALL ammonia, both NH3 and NH4+].Still, the missing label concerns me and I will be contacting the vendor to see what's up.

This product has been a lifesaver (literally!) for my pond. It quickly removes chlorine, chloramine, and detoxifies both ammonia and nitrite without affecting pH. A little goes a LONG way - just remember to shake well before using. I always keep it in stock. I have had several pump/filter malfunctions over the years (usually when I am out of town - go figure!). This product can be used to chemically treat the water in the absence of a working filtration system. This has literally saved me hundreds if not thousands of dollars by keeping my koi alive until repairs could be made. I also throw a small amount in whenever I have to top off the pond (which is often during hot summers). My only complaint is the packaging. It would be nice if the label contained a quick reference chart and built in measurement dispenser. I usually end up writing the dosage I need directly on the bottle with a sharpie and store a small measuring cup on top of the lid.
