I disconnected my cat 5 cables from my router, took a cat 7 cable from my router to one of the 10gb ports, connected my other cat 5 cables to the 2.5 ports and Shazam! What a difference in my wired and wireless speeds ! Worth every cent!

I decided to spend extra and buy QNAP's latest release of this unit (note the R2 in the product's title) versus buying one of the other brands -- despite spending about $30-$40 more. QNAP is a reputable company, and it comes with a 2 year warranty. I have a 2.5gbe connection direct to my FIOS router's 2.5gbe port, and I use the dual 10gbe RJ45 ports to connect to my Synology DS224+ and my desktop. Both of those have a a 5gbe USB-C network adapter -- the Synology using the WavLink 5gbe USB-C adapter and my desktop using the UGREEN 5gbe USB-C adapter. Both devices connect at 5gbe and I'm getting 400 MB/s transfer speeds between my desktop and the NAS.... fantastic. In terms of the unit itself, I'm happy that the ports and the LED lights are all on the same side. I wish the power adapter was on the opposite side of the ports/LEDs, but it works. Metal housing, no fans. It's silent. It's been cold outside, so I haven't seen if it gets "hot to the touch" or not. Overall, it was a little bit more than the closest "brand" competitor, and quite a bit more compared to the irregular brands. The cost was justified in my use case.

Currently used only for 2.5Gbps, to match ISP D/L speed and gateway. Works very well and if ISP provides fiber speeds in the future, it should accommodate 10Gbps
