My sister thinks she has a small mouth. I disagree, but I digress! She thought that she could wear this youth-sized mouthguard. In fact, it is too small for her.Aside from the fact that it's too small, it seems very nice. We liked that it does NOT require boiling to fit it to your mouth, like most other mouthguards. My sister does not like to do that. The current price at $14.99 does seem a tad high, but consider that this is actually different from many other guards. This is an guard to protect both upper and lower teeth at the same time, not just one or the other. In any event, I won't reduce the star rating for being a bit expensive. As long as the sizing works for your young one, I think this mouthguard is very nice and deserves 5 stars.

My son has been participating in a Jiujitsu club for the past couple years and recently got braces. After getting the insides of his lips torn up a bit during grappling sessions, he asked for a mouth guard which could accommodate his braces. When this arrived he looked at it and was SURE it wouldn't fit. After some coaxing, he tried it on and was thrilled with the fit. He now wears it at each training session. He's 13 and not yet fully grown, so your mileage may vary. Many reviewers are in disagreement over the sizing of this mouth-guard.Even though the box says "no boiling required" I feel that you could soften the appliance a bit if you wanted to ease the fit a little more by immersing it in boiling water. It is silicone, though, so it is already fairly pliable (in spite of the reinforced construction) and my son certainly didn't need any assistance getting it to fit.He did need to wash it a couple times to get rid of an unpleasant from-factory-smell.

The Safe Grin Mouth guard is indeed well made; it’s fabricated from a thick, firm “medical grade” silicone. If properly fitted, it will no doubt offer plenty of protection under normal athletic play.I do think the seller creates some confusion as to the recommended fit, at times in the description asserting that it is for youth and adult, and at other times stating that the size is appropriate for “kids.” Or referring to it as a “youth mouth guard.” Notwithstanding the different sizing between the occidental and oriental races, it obviously isn’t going to fit each of those age groups, or what the seller is implying, anybody in the world. Based on a perusal of prior reviews, it quickly becomes obvious that the sellers over exuberant sizing range is the main point of contention. I’ll agree that it’s justified. On the other hand, for those that the mouth guard did happen to fit, the reviews were positive, to which I would also concur.I am a fully grown adult and play at second base in league softball. I ordered the mouth guard because I noted “Adult” in the description. As is plain from other reviews, that’s not really the case, at least not an occidental adult. The fact is, I could fit it in my mouth, but not closed. It does incorporate a palate plate on the upper and a small tab on the lower that holds it tightly in place, most likely keeping it from flying out on impact. I’ve used many mouth guards through the years and the Safe Grin, if it fits properly, is one of the better ones. I’d say that of all the insinuations that the seller makes, ‘a mouth guard for youths wearing braces’ is the most accurate one. With nothing to lose, I tried dropping the silicone mouth guard in boiling water for 15 seconds, or so, to see if it would then mold itself to my mouth size. Instead, it was destroyed; boiling it to fit, as is the case with some mouth guards, is not an option.I’ll rate it 4-Stars because for those that read between the lines of the various reviews, thereby gleaning its real fit, they’re probably going to be happy with it. And even happier so with the dental bill it may someday save. Also, its supplied with a nice hard case.

This braces mouth guard has been perfect for my son! He recently got braces and does karate, so we needed something to protect his teeth during practice. This guard is comfortable, fits securely, and gives me peace of mind knowing his braces are protected. The best part is that you don’t have to mold it—it’s ready to use right out of the box!I boiled it to disinfect, and it kept its shape perfectly. The silicone material is really high quality, and the color looks great too. It’s a fantastic product for anyone needing extra protection for their teeth and braces during sports. I definitely recommend it for safety and comfort!
